Do Republicans lack the 'irony' gene?
Someone posted the nugget here the other day that many right-wingers thought Colbert was one of their own  How can they not realize that he is a caricature of their beloved pundits like O'Reilly?

Who would hire Colbert to address a predominantly Republican audience? That person should get an award! :-)

I have observed that right-wing humor is often mean-spirited, and low-brow. I personally love slapstick, but I think wingnut humor is based on kicking people when they're down and making a joke of it.

7. I said that to someone on Monday
We were discussing Colbert and she said, "Why was he invited? He always makes fun of them - why did they think he was a good choice?"

I thought about it for a minute and then I said, "I know this sounds crazy ... but maybe they don't get the joke. Maybe they watch his show and think he's for real."

8. They didn't pay attention in Lit class
because they didn't think it would help them screw the poor. And I'm not saying that because I'm an English teacher.

9. I think they lack the...
complexity gene. They have a tough time with complexity and contradiction. It's probably all the same issue at it's roots.

According to this it is an "intolerance for ambiguity".

11. They lack more than the "irony" gene
They lack the "morality" gene, the "intelligence" gene, the "common sense" gene, the "compassion" gene, the "insight" gene, etc., etc.

12. That's what happens when your family tree has no branches.
And that's why most Republicans look like the banjo kid from Deliverance.
