Anthem in Spanish Doesn't Faze First Lady

WASHINGTON -- Laura Bush has a knack for making it known when she doesn't agree with her husband. But on the subject of belting out "The Star-Spangled Banner" in Spanish, it's not clear whether the first lady is in President Bush's camp or not.

She noted that "we are a nation of many, many languages" and that the country has already heard many versions of the anthem "like at the Super Bowl."

But when it was pointed out that this position differed from her husband's, Mrs. Bush had a different answer.

"Well, I think it should be sung in English, of course," she said.

"I love it when I look at the bottom of `Amazing Grace' and there are the words in the Methodist hymnal in Swahili," Mrs. Bush said.

(end snip)

Smirky ain't gonna think that's funny, Pickles. Who do you think you are, anyway, Colbert?

2. It's like..
She said one thing and immediately contradicted it in one statement:

"She noted that "we are a nation of many, many languages" and that the country has already heard many versions of the anthem "like at the Super Bowl."

But when it was pointed out that this position differed from her husband's, Mrs. Bush had a different answer.

"Well, I think it should be sung in English, of course," she said.

12. surprises of surprises
My family farm is part of the Chief John Ross's original allotment here in oklahoma north of tahlequah as I am told. Purchased from his grand son. My daughter in law to be works for an abstract co. and I intend to ask her to validate this for me and if and when I will update you on this. I'm 1/8 Cherokee myself. My best friends as a child were Cherokees. I consider myself as Cherokee/German. One of the civil war battles was fought there. as kids we found a lot of memorabilia of the civil war. One a cap and ball rifle that was leaned up against a tree and the tree grew around it and it was exposed when the tree died and fell. I still have brothers and sisters living there and I go there for meditation from time to time.

13. I am trying to find out more about my Cherokee Blood

I am glad that it runs through me.

When I was a little girl I never liked the whole American fairy tale about how much they loved the Indians on Thanksgiving!

15. and then they stole the land from them and called it THEIR LAND

Why are we arguing over the way that the anthem should be done, in "NO OTHER language but English".

I want it done like Amazing Grace by the Cherokees!

19. God, just shut up, you stupid bitch
I really hope future generations of this country do not have to put up with what we've had to endure. I hope by the time my 17-month old nephew reaches my age, he's living under a person of integrity whom we can all admire and not people like this bitch, her asshole husband, and Cheney.
