The Today Show ignores Stephen Colbert
Instead, they featured Bush's narcissistic skit again.

"Heh... you know what's the only thing even funnier than I am? Two of me making jokes."

24. But CBS and Comedy Central are both owned by Viacom...so it would
make good sense for a CBS outlet to talk about a Comedy Central host.

2. We have no Free Press
They are so damn stupid to believe that 'us little people' do not get the truth from the Net. I'm disgusted with the Major Corporate News Media. Each day I make a point to tell others about Buzzflash, TruthOut, AntiWar, etc. sites.

The TV cable news media is a JOKE. :puke:

4. Imus Kettle Calls Pot Black
Call me a glutton for punishment...there was Anus and his jackasses panning the entire WHCD...calling Colbert "elitist". But then what do you expect from these hyenas.

The more the corporate media ignores the Truthiness that Mr. Colbert laid on them on Saturday, the more obvious it is how corrupt and inept they are.

14. I'm Proud To Be "Elitist" Based On That "Crowd"
Call it being arrogant...I call it being confident and comfortable in one's skin. It's one thing that is fundamentally different between Progressives and Liberals vs. Conservatives. We can feel good about ourselves and our place in this world, while they continually angst over what they don't have or can't be. Living lies makes one very shallow.

Yes...Colbert said in 15 minutes what I had wanted to hear for the past 10 years. Here's hoping his words are repeated over and over in "our media"...the blogs, Daily Show, Air America and wherever else we can get the word out. The good thing is the word is finally getting out...now is it getting through????

Cheers...

5. On NBC News last night, too
They ignored Colbert -- NO mention at all -- and played an interminable clip of the chimp's bit and people splitting their sides over it.

6. Funny thing, this was what Cobert's point was...
Just get the P/R release, run it through the spell check and pass it on calling it 'reporting'...

8. Hey, Cobert would really be disappointed if they LIKED it ...
He stayed in character and embarrassed the hell out of the lap-dog media.

No good deed goes unpunished, aye?

Can't wait for another installment of "Who's Not Honoring Me Now!" :applause:

I think some little lackey who watch one of Cobert's Right Wing Guests actually bought into the humor a la Archie Bunker 70s example, i.e., widespread belief among the Right Wing that Carrol O'Conner MUST be a conservative. NOT!

Really, I think perhaps one of those guests said, "Oh, he's great." Then they scheduled him ... it was to The USA's Whorish Press Corp like a figurative "Trojan Horse" ... Once Cobert was released, all bets were off! I'm waiting to see if C-SPAN has the courage to release the video presentation. I'm still waiting. :P

7. This is precisely why the MSM and TV news are dying
and why someone like Colbert and something like DU and other new media have emerged to replace them.

No wonder they aren't laughing.

Emergence of the Progressive Blogosphere:
A New Force in American Politics

The Emergence of the Progressive Blogosphere

In the past two years, the political dynamics of the Internet have reversed themselves. According to research conducted by MyDD.com, as of July, 2005, the ninety-eight most trafficked progressive blogs totaled an amazing 15,181,649 page views per week, an average of over two million daily page views.(3) That is over five times the size of the entire political blogosphere just two years ago.

By way of comparison, the top one-hundred and fifty conservative blogs had less than ten million page views per week during this period, and just over one million unique visits a day. In less than two years the progressive blogosphere had grown from less than as big as the conservative blogosphere, to nearly double its size.

Nowhere is this rise more apparent than in a direct comparison of the largest progressive and conservative sites. As previously discussed, two years ago, Instapundit was three times larger than any other blog. However, as of July, 2005, the largest progressive blog, Dailykos, received more than four times as many montly visits.

It’s important to remember that Instapundit is still growing. Over the last two years, it has almost doubled the size of its audience. However, over the same period, Dailykos, now easily the largest political blog in the world, has increased its audience nearly thirty-times over.

Other aspects of the digital political world reflect the same trends. The prominent message boards Free Republic (conservative) and Democratic Underground (progressive) are two of the largest online political centers. While Free Republic has been long understood to be the largest political community on the web, over the past two years, Democratic Underground has almost entirely closed the traffic difference with its conservative rival.

Progressives were not the early adapters to online communication. But they have become, in the parlance of Malcolm Gladwell, “The Early Majority.” (4)

11. Most of the Kool aide drinking
media types were simply dumbstruck by Colbert's smackdown of the naked emperor. Too afraid to laugh at the plain truth they will await the blast fax from kkkarl's office today to tell everyone what an unpatriotic commie pinko "merika hatin" librul Colbert really is.

16. Oh, this is PRECIOUS!
Edited on Mon May-01-06 07:47 AM by ShortnFiery
I just caught a little snippet on Headline News "Robin and Company" and it was OUTSTANDING in it's honesty about Cobert. They were trying to be curt and sniping but it only drove home how shallow the Cable News media has become ---> Specifically the reporter suggested that "The pResident does not like these gatherings ... when Cobert started out, you could see the pResident smile but those of us sitting close to him could tell as Cobert went ON and ON, the pResident did NOT LIKE HIS PERFORMANCE ... oh, it was a little bit TOO MUCH for him to take." :puke:

What a sniveling cry baby. I wonder what KKKarl can do to Cobert before he's indicted? After all, unlike the pseudo-media, Cobert admits to doing FAKE NEWS. :grr:

I can't wait to see the whole event again. When will C-SPAN post this on their site? (The Video)

Do you know where else we can get portions of Cobert's performance to pass around to our kool-aid drinking brethren? :woohoo: :applause:

19. And Fredricka Whitfield (CNN) this weekend
said that Bush displayed "some great comic timing."

I beg to differ. Steve Bridges was funny enough. The premise was funny enough. But George Bush and good delivery are mutually exclusive.

17. ABC, too. So I sent them an email this morning:
I saw your coverage of the White House Correspondent's dinner on Saturday and Monday. If the television were my only source of news, the only thing I would know about that evening was that our oh-so-amusing president left them rolling in the aisles. What a cut up! He may have even topped the madcap antics of searching for WMDs in the Oval Office!

Fortunately, the internet is now my primary source for news, so I am aware that Stephen Colbert also spoke at the dinner and he gave a hilarious, and blistering, critique of the president and the fawning media that report on him. I see that you did give some quotes from Colbert's speech on your website. How about including some of the footage in your television coverage? In the interest of fairness and balance, of course.

23. They have their marching orders...
El Presidente is attempting to connect to the people with humor and reaching out more to the media, just as Josh Bolten said, so they are helping him as much as they can....so why is there a problem with that?

25. I think there was another little thing going on here
I read on one of these threads that the fellow who invited Colbert to the Correspondents Dinner was the outgoing President of the Association that held the whole shindig.

What a great way to stick it to his "fellow" reporters, many who truly thought Stephen was ACTUALLY a Conservative Comedian, and would say wonderful things about their Great King.

Looked at that way, it would seem a massive dose of Instant Karma was administered to the
"liberal????" press.

I laughed, I cried, milk was forcefully ejected from my nose!!!

Bless you, Steve, for saying what HAD to be said.

:toast: :toast: :spray:
  :patriot:
