Hey, Laura Bush....You're not our queen!
Seriously, did anyone notice how she not only didn't stand for Stephen Colbert at the end of his speech last night, but didn't even offer her hand? Everyone else did, the President etc. She just sat there said something (i'm not a lip reader) and didn't even offer her hand.

I'm sorry but that's FAR more rude than anything Colbert said at the podium.

Someone should tell the Bush women that they're not our royalty.

1. Compare her with Helen Thomas.
Helen is almost twice Laura's age, yet sprang up immediately to shake Colbert's hand.

6. She's friendly at least
The true mark of a person's manners isn't how well they behave with someone they like, but how well they behave with someone they don't. Helen Thomas obviously knew Colbert already from making that film, and perhaps before. I"m not sure if she's been on his show. I think she may have been.

I'm sure if the keynote speaker was someone Laura Bush knew or liked, she would have sprang up and hugged and kissed him as well.

No, the true mark of manners and not thinking of yourself as a royal is how you react to those you disagree with or don't know. I"m sure if it was say Bill O'Reilly up there, she would have stood and shook his hand, and so would have Helen Thomas. That's the difference. Ms. Thomas gives respect to everyone, even those she disagrees with.

Mrs. Bush think's she above reproach and better than others.

2. What else would you expect from a murderer?
I'm sure she's plotting Stephen's demise right now--after all, they say once you kill, the second time is much easier.

12. She had the same puss on
that she had at Coretta Scott King's funeral.

Pickles has about as much social grace as a mound of turds and is certainly less useful.

16. I take Xanax. Doesn't make me strung out or impolite.

It's not an excuse for poor manners. It's simply for anti-anxiety. Now, if you mix it w/ alcohol, which I don't, I can't say what kind of irrational behavior would overcome Pickles.

wearing that dress before!

Perhaps this dress will be used in much the same way as his "shirtsleeve blue shirt" has come to be ... wear it all the time and it looks like it's the same day forever.

edit because I put the same photo twice .. d'oh!
