Could we all please stop calling him "Scooter"?
His name is Irving Libby, former assistant to the most powerful vice president EVER.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Libby#Personal

To continue to call him "Scooter" is just another clever way to diminish his wrongdoing. I mean..how bad could a guy named "Scooter, BE?"

Probably MOST people have a nickname, but when it comes to legal or public affairs, the nickname is usually dispensed with. You don't hear other criminals referred to on tv or in the news by their nicknames unless it's some mafia guy, and then the nickname is usually used in a derisive way.

When the media uses "Scooter", one would think they are talking about a 4 yr old who got caught with an oreo mustache after telling Mom he did NOT eat the cookies.

3. When I was in summer camp I knew a girl named Scooter
It was her parents nickname for her running out of the room at lightning speed whenever she was in trouble.

5. But that's what he goes by, so it makes sense to use it.
It's much more than just a nickname - it is, for all intents and purposes, his name.

Just like William Clinton prefers "Bill", so that's what we all use. No difference.

It's not only people who don't like him who call him "Scooter" - that's his most used, and I assume his preferred, moniker.

So there's nothing wrong with it.
