5. What does he know about the effects of high gas prices?
He flies around and gets driven around the entire country using our tax dollars to make speeches and stop in a Repuke fundraisers. What a butt. It is also pathetic that people are now angry with him and his poll numbers are falling because of gas prices. I guess dead soldiers in an illegal war does not bother them, but God forbid they should pay more for gas.

8. Hey
look...take what we can get...at least they are waking up. Fact is...hit 'em in the wallet, and then they wake up.

Now that the average American's ox is getting gored, they are waking up.

Hate me if you will, but the whole Iraq thing has not bothered me even 1/4 as much as the high gas prices!! Why?? The Iraq War never affected me DIRECTLY. The gas prices have.

I suspect many Americans are the same way I am in this regard. They never cared much about the dead soldiers or illegal war, because it did not affect them PERSONALLY. The high gas prices DO.

I know where you are coming from, but, hell...take what we can get, at least Amurikkka is finally waking up to what an asshole Bush is.

15. Everything Repukes do comes with a price tag.
I am not willing to be lured in by a measly $100. that I will have to claim on my taxes as income. I know people are waking up. I am just wondering what is taking them so long. And I do think it is sickening not to think about the war and what our troops are going through. That should affect everyone personally. Empathy, my friend. The most important thing we humans should practice. Empathy. When you hear of the death of a soldier, just picture his/her family sitting down at the dinner table when the military car pulls up in front of the house.........Empathy.

16. You make an interesting point, and one that probably deserves its
own thread. Fer instance, if you do what is suggested by the other reply to your post, don't you also have to consider the Iraqi's that the soldier has killed and the effects that has on those that were close to him/her?

As I said, it get very complicated very quickly and there is a great deal of moral ambiguity in dealing with every aspect of war.

Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 05:23 PM by Richardo

"That's because what I call "the oil market" is priced too high."

"What we need to do here is get to drillin' in what I call the "Alaskan Wildlife Preservation". Caribous; they don't need gas. Probably like it standin' next to a nice warm oil *pipeline*. Get out of the wind and skeet. Sleet."

"What I'm tryin' - what I'm sayin' - what I mean is - if we're going to give you people *relief* - get it down to a reasonable $2.60 per gallon - we got to get the other guys movin."

"Some say this is improbable - impossible. Well I say, may God continue to Bless America!"
