3. Do you mean the WV miner that was trapped?
And that 2 of the survival air units didn't work?

5. Miner - guy who works in coal mine. Minor - someone under 18 years.
My grandpa was a miner with Peabody Coal from the time he was a minor until he retired at age 65.

;-)

9. I watched CSpan hearings where Sen. Harkin kept holding
up safety devices invented in Australia and Canada while that POS Specter made fun of him. It would cost a $100,000 to outfit a mine with the devices. And how would those fathead CEOs pay the lobbyists and news reader if they PROTECTED their employees. And the UMW are a shadow of their Sullivan days.

This is a national disgrace. We are back to the Sixteen Ton days that Tennessee Ernie Ford sang of.

11. Think of all the GOOD publicity the mining company would have gotten...
if all the miners had been rescued alive, saved by the safety equipment they bought for under $100,000.

It would almost be worth staging a cave-in just so they could "rescue" their workers!

14. What do they care about good publicity? Just buy a bionic
eyeliner for 75 million and they kill the story.

13. BushCo nailed!
Last paragraph of story:

The Bush administration is reviewing air packs and other safety equipment used in the nation’s mines after previously scrapping similar initiatives started by the Clinton administration.
