BREAKING: RED ROVER, RED ROVER! FITZ CONSIDERING PERJURY AND OBSTRUCTION
Edited on Wed Apr-26-06 09:36 PM by Halliburton
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-042606rove_lat,0,1773232.story?coll=la-home-headlines

<snip>
White House political advisor Karl Rove today went to a courthouse where he testified for the fifth time before a federal grand jury investigating his role in the CIA leak case.

"He's testifying now, and is doing so voluntarily," Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Rove, told Bloomberg news service.

After several hours, Rove was photographed leaving the courthouse. It was not known whether he would return.

Rove has been under scrutiny over whether he promptly disclosed to investigators and the grand jury conversations he had with journalists about CIA officer Valerie Plame, whose identity was leaked to the media in the summer of 2003. It is a crime to disclose the identity of a covert CIA agent.

Special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald is believed to be considering perjury or obstruction charges against Rove or charges that he offered misstatements to investigators.

47. You're probably 1000% correct...
Prison reform would happen so fast, there'll be sparks flying. Prison rape and all the other horrors of prison will be a bad legend.

14. Thats why i haven't really followed it.
I'm aware of it. But I don't think about it much at all. I think the "Fitzmas" crap was premature wishful thinking. For all we know Fitzgerald is going to be just another shill for Bush.

I mean if he brings down this criminal gang, I'll sing his praises for all-time.

But i'm not going to jump the gun and act like this guy is a saint, or that a conviction is guaranteed.

50. Pls research Fitzgerald before you suggest he will be a "Bush Shill"
Everything I read suggests he is a man of integrity. Ask Gov Ryan (r-illinois) about the "gentle Bush shill" treatment he recieved from Fitzgeralds' office.

5. I think Fitz set a perjury trap for him today
What goes around comes around. It may have taken 8 years, but revenge will be just as sweet.

It's about perjury and obstruction of justice.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and not count any chickens just yet.

26. Which would mean Fitz probably has more on him.
Because once you show he is lying, then if you can bring out the full truth, Rove will be singing his socks off for a deal. That is my hope.

Watching CNN etc... I see these talking heads saying stuff like that "most of the intelligence pointed to WMD" but certain things didn't and my husband starts laughing because I can't help myself, I just start squawking at the TV - Liar, Liar, Liars.

33. "...the wheels turning"
Now I'll be singing John Lennon's "Watching the Wheels" as I read through some of the threads on the "great non-controversy" about if Karl got a letter. Of course, John did a heck of a cover of Holland's "Please Mister Postman," too.

Yesterday's events caused me to hold back on that which I had planned to say in an essay on how people on progressive forums sometimes miss what is significant in media reports on the Plame case, because they are too invested in petty conflicts ..... maybe a modified version today.

that "voluntarily" means Rove went in to try and save his ass because he knows he is a target. If Fitz had called him in my friends tell me it would have been a signal that Fitz didn't have enough to nail Rove. "Voluntarily" is good news for the good guys.

Approximately 22 members who worked up the Plame treason - plus the Iraq war scenario.

Last October, during the first Grand Jury conclusion/ announcement of Indictment(s)- it was observed that Fitz. had 22 folders in hand & the BUZZ was that the entire WHIG was going down.

Libby is the only member of WHIG so far...staying hopeful....

31. My reading of the tea leaves.
Rove was the unfinished business all along. That's why Fitzgerald set up the new grand jury before he dedicated his time to finish up the Ryan trial.

Now this is his sole focus and Luskins story is subtly changing. Rove is suddenly and coincidentally demoted one day after the Ryan trial is wrapped up. Insiders and newspapers are starting to actively court the ominous possible fate imminent for Rove.

I believe Luskin is lying every time he opens his mouth. I suspect Rove has been "notified" in one form or another that he is a target and that yesterday was a "step into my lair" for the 5th time if you like by Patrick Fitzgerald. Because I think they have so many contradictions from other witnesses to his testimony that Patrick felt sure, come on down and twist yourself up even more with additional desperation testimony under oath.

I think Patrick is playing with him like a cat bats around a mouse before lunch. I fully expect Rove to be indicted at the minimun for lying to federal investigators. Rove is 100 yards from going over the falls and he's paddling like hell to try to avoid it but he's going over.

I also think it will take about 3 more meetings of the grand jury before they would make the announcement because of all the testimony that has to be read to them from two years of previous witnesses statements. This has to be comprehended by the new grand jury and merged into the total picture of Roves lies.

That's my feeling on it anyway. We'll see how right I am.

34. Great Post, Thank you

I admit also that the whole grand jury process has been so lengthy that I have not stayed up to date on the nuances. Thank you for putting the situation in better focus for me...

I sure hope that the sleazy scumbag Rove ends up squealing out the whole stinking pack of lying, murdering, neo-con chicken hawks.

Engaging in abusive prison sex would probably be Rove's consistant dream coming true... He deserves to share a cozy cell with his boy-toy the "Bull-Dog" James Guckert/Jeff Gannon for a decade or two, at least.

to get back at Joe Wilson and spread the story about Plame and her CIA role. It's just too much for the average citizen to understand. NOT.

This is what the repukes want the sheeple to believe: this story is so complicated and will take so many yrs. to unravel, you can't comprehend it so don't even try, move along, nothing's happening here.
