Tony Snow on gas prices
"A gallon of gas costs the same as a gallon of milk. A gallon of milk has a lower production cost than a gallon of gas. Does that mean we're getting gouged by cows?" Tony Snow on the O'Reilly Factor, 4/18/06

3. Does Tony Snowjob buy 20 gallons of milk at a time?
Does he use it all up in a week and then have to buy another 20 gallons?

I get so tired of that stupid, intellectually dishonest comparison of gasoline to milk.

6. And does he need to drink a couple of gallons of milk to get to work
every day?

How ridiculous!

Let's see him put gasoline on his cereal in the morning.
I'm willing to pay more in production costs for something I eat or drink.

15. And I wouldn't buy 1-month old milk
The price you pay for milk include the speedy delivery, special refrigeration, pasteurization, health inspections and packaging.

I don't think Mr. Snow included those costs.

21. It does not matter how much you use
the plain simple fact is that it takes a lot more processes to make a gallon of gasoline. It only stands to reason.

8. Cripes. I haven't bought a gallon of milk in years!
I buy it to add to canned soups, so a half-gallon every couple of weeks is plenty.

What a moran!

5. Babies are more essential than Buicks.
And Buicks can be modified to be smaller and use less oil and gasoline.

This is a Right-Wing snip defending the big oil companies' profit and trying to discourage meaningful reform or national conversion to alternative fuels.

12. I know it's a VERY high price to pay for a lot of Americans ...
... but think of it this way: Every time someone is gouged at the gas pump, that's another VOTER who will want revenge in the upcoming elections.

As for the Repubs acting as apologists, or defending Big Oil from the voters' wrath -- yeah, that's going to work. Anyone who thinks the oil companies somehow DESERVE to be defended on this issue won't be a threat at the ballot box in November -- because they're TOO GODDAMNED STUPID TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET TO A POLLING STATION AND VOTE ANYWAY!

Every time a GOPer opens his mouth to DEFEND high gas prices, another few thousand traditionally Republican voters move over to our side of the issue, and are likely to vote AGAINST their own party.

on edit...

You're right exactly on Snow. And also on the likely outcome of folks like him doing and saying things like that.

I posted to another thread and am just now returning to this one! Thanks for your patience.

18. Thanks for responding.
I look at it this way these days:

Every time a Republican apologizes for Big Oil, Big Business or Big Pharma, another batch of Republican voters thinks, "These guys are TOTALLY OUT OF TOUCH with my life, and the challenges I am facing every day."

So let them keep talking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20. Yes. I agree, and wish I didn't do such a poor job in my initial
response to you, NG.

I'm with you all the way.

I heard Bush in Iowa yesterday on NPR "explaining" ethanol to those gathered.

He sounded like a complete fool.

7. Stabbed or shot?
dead either way.. I hate these lame repube arguments..

People CAN (and lots do) live very normal lives without MILK, but they probably still need to drive to work..

and

there are PLENTY of cheaper substitutes for MILK.. I don;t know about YOU, but I don;t know the "recipe" for gasoline, and have no access to a facility where I can make my own:shrug:

14. Milk hasn't gone up 150% since Bush took office
and farmers aren't making record profits, it's the oil executives who are getting rich, while we're getting reamed.
