Hey, let's have a design contest so we can get our Cafe Press Store
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 05:11 PM by sfexpat2000
going!

I'm thinking, we could use three awesome designs to advertise not only the website but the issue. The monies from the merch can be distributed to the charities we link to. There can be a page at the site that documents $ in and $ out.

Doug and I can put up token prizes $100, $75 and $75. Is there a way to sweeten that? Like, the prize money + a piece of merch + a listing at KU?

Whaddya think?

:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

WE NEED THREE DESIGNS TO SELL AT CAFE PRESS.

& WE NEED A PANEL OF JUDGES, AN ODD NUMBER. I'M SURE WE CAN FIND AN ODD NUMBER IN THIS BUNCH. :silly:

On edit: I am currently clearing this with our mods, to be sure we're square with DU policy. B.

I want an evening at Doug's club, lol ;-)

But do we need give away money? Or, even better; could the winner donate the money to one of the org's in need of money?
I think people are satisfied with being given a piece of merc and their name in golden letters at the site, and then we could make a news out of the 'donate' part? :public relations smiley:

What do you think?

prize money is up to them.

Skinner gave me the go ahead. :)

On edit: If we can make a few bucks at Cafe Press, besides getting the word out, we can compensate our Webmaster. :)

3. What about this: I can post the contest in GD.
Of the entries submitted, we'll take a poll in this forum and announce winners after say, a few days -- when you all have had a chance to look and see and decide.

To sweeten the deal, Doug and I will donate $5 to DU per entry. That way, people will have an incentive to enter the contest.

And, the three winners will also be allowed to pick one item from our Cafe Press store as part of their prize.

I can't stress enough how important it can be to keep as many people involved and motivated and having fun. We're all dealing with a lot. Let's make this fun!

Of course, anyone in this forum may and is encouraged to submit a design entry.

Is that clear or do I need to clean it up?

Lemme know, my friends.

:loveya:

4. Just a memory, Beth and Mogster, but the Mardi Gras mask
auction was a smashing success on DU. I think people would be delighted to come up with something for the cause. I wish I had the skills to help, but we all know how generous DUers are!
I'll be watching and bidding or buying!

5. Well, see? The auction was great, wasn't it?
I'll try to time this on Sat morning.

It will be very fine.

6. Who is good at designs?
Bumper sticker idea "I Survived Katrina/Rita, but am a victim of Red Tape" The image of the hurricane at one end and the tangled red tape in a similar swirl, like the hurricane, at the other end.

I'm gonna replace some of these as I've discovered they're just working examples, so hurry up to catch some 'early' Swamp Rat ;-)

10. That works, I really like it!
But I like to twist the use of the word "victim".

We are drowning in red tape, it is not just FEMA, it is all of the red tape, it is the insurance companies, the city building code offices, the electric companies, gas companies, the SBA, et al.

11. True dat!
If I had more time, I'd work up one with red tape... "I survived Katrina & Rita, but the Red Tape is killing me" with red ribbons weaving in and out of logos for FEMA/Farm Bureau/Mississippi Power/etc. But I'm in Shreveport tonight. Don't have the grahics resources to play with tonight.

Hey, did you see my thread on the Greatest Page? I actually think you posted the same link a while back, to the Biloxi Sun-Herald's before/after photos, but given the public's short attention span, I posted them again.

need, anyway.

I still like "Baghdad, what about BILOXI?"
