This is what I find disgusting about those with so called political oversight. They only use it when they are pressured by the media, rarely if ever proactively on their own unless it is a pet interest.

Whistleblowers are a rare breed that should be treated with the highest respect by government. Instead policymakers often scorn them so as not to encourage similar behavior from those who could nail them.
