1. I love the World Cup
and watching the Americans whine on the various boards about "that damned World Cup!"

3. No surprises yet in the second round.
The stronger teams have advanced.

Although I'm backing England, I have to say I'm very impressed with Argentina, Uruguay and Chile from the South American contingent and Japan has been very entertaining to represent Asia.

Spain will be progressively harder to beat as will the Dutch.

I'm really enjoying watching this one.

4. Now I gotta complaint and not because of who has advanced
but BAD calls.

We usually have two controversial calls a World cup... we are up to five so far... two disallowed goals, on offside, US game, another I can't remember, one goal that was in, but did not count... this morning Germany\ England (in the scheme of things it would not have changed the final), and that offside goal against Mexico that DID change the rhythm of the game. No, I don't think Mexico would have won, but we will never know. The team deflated after that. And finally there was another one yesterday in the round of sixteen. It is like I am expecting really bad refs, and that should not be. If anything this proves they need instant replay AND sensors at the goal...

So this is actually somewhat annoying.

On the plus side I got two T-Shirts today for hubby and me at cut rate prices...

I know I will use mine for July Fourth, and exercise.

:-)

Hey, cannot complaint about all... but my hubby takes the bad refereeing even more seriously than I do. Been a while since I actually wanted a team to win, and rather just enjoy a good game, a clean game and a pretty game.

7. Netherlands vs. Spain for the final
after some very good semi-finals--and NO PENALTY SHOOTOUTS! :woohoo:

I have to find a Netherlands jersey and/or scarf.
