Meeting my birth son
Here's the report on my meeting with John yesterday. It went very well. We met at a burger place. I was about 20 minutes early, so met him when he pulled up. I got a hug even before he got out of the car. We spent about 30 minutes at the burger place. He asked me a lot of questions about his biological father, who died when he was 10 years old. I also found out that his brother who is 14 months younger than John is not adopted like him. His adoptive mom got pregnant 5 months after they adopted John. I had always thought they were both adopted.

We then went to a small park near the Galleria and took some photos. Here they are:

It was a really great meeting - I didn't cry or faint or anything and we both were really comfortable with each other from the very start. We spent a little over an hour together, which was fine for the first meeting. I do think he will want to see me again. He said his adoptive parents want to meet me as well. So maybe the next trip we will all meet together.

3. With tears on my cheek
I read this. He is a handsome one and he looks a lot like you. Congratulations to both of you. May you have many years together. It sounds like his adoptive parents are good, understanding people. That is great news.

4. I'm so excited for you
As everyone else has said, what a handsome son you have. I'm very happy it was comfortable for you and you were able to be together well. I'm sure that was a concern now allayed.

Best wishes for you both and your future shared happiness.

5. One of the most beautiful set of pictures I've seen here.
You made me cry, and I almost never cry.

Rembember that old Song Mother and Child reunion?

Mother and Child Reunion

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine.
I can't for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine.

I just can't believe it's so,
and though it seems strange to say
I never been laid so low
In such a mysterious way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

But I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
When the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away,
Oh, oh the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh the mother and child reunion
Is only a moment away

I always think of those lyrics when I hear stories like these. "Only a moment away"
(Evidently, Simon got the title from a Chinese food dish, which takes some of the emotion out of it, but I don't care. I still like it)
