Great news... new job for my wife!
Our money problems we've been having this month since Jeanette lost her job will be abating soon, and that means I'll be able to either repair the rear axle on my bike or just buy a better rear wheel. She's going to be working for the people who contract to do phone support for Logitech. She was going in for inbound calls for DirectTV, but she aced the computer aptitude test and they immediately shuttled her over to the other division, which apparently is desperate for people with some articulation and computer aptitude. It will be her best paying job, and apparently will have the best benefits, of any job she's ever had so you can bet that we're both ecstatic right now.

It has been a rough month or so, with the money problems and the cluster f**k that was hurricane Katrina, but I'm in my best mood right now that I've had in weeks. I'm looking forward to starting my regular exercise program soon. My weight has been roughly steady, and considering that in former times I could gain over 20 pounds a month when I was depressed, I'll take it. Cheers!

:hi: :woohoo: :hi:

1. Good deal
I'm glad things are looking up for you.

Things are going ok for me. I'm doing my best to entertain a friend from out of town this weekend. I had a dinner with her that wasn't really on my diet, but I've lost about 20 pounds over the last couple of months and I have not had one pig out day the entire time. So I'm not feeling too bad about my indiscretion today. I just hope that I'm not boring my friend. It's the first time I've met her in the flesh. I've been writing to her since the beginning of the year.

8. Thanks, everyone.
Yes, things are looking better now than they have for a couple weeks. As long as they don't disqualify her because of her credit or anything, she'll be very happy with this job. I can't wait to get my bike fixed, too, because I'm afraid that rear rim doesn't have much life left in it and without the bike I'll be in a real bind. May have to arrange rides with co-workers or something. But it won't be for long. :)

2. Congratulations to you and Jeanette!!!
I'm so, so very glad that what was a stressful situation for you both, has turned out to be something far better than you could have imagined!! Also, that's a great effort on your part for not turning to food like perhaps you did in the past! I'm so glad you shared this update with us... :hi:
