i was just placed on an 1800 calorie a day diet.
I'm not so sure I agree w/ my doctor on this one. For one, I'm 6'1" with a large bone structure and I'm muscular.

I'm very active, I play hockey every Sunday. I run/cardio-exercise on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and I lift weights, build strength on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I'm concerned that if I'm placed on an 1800 calorie/day diet with my hypoglycemia, I may not get the sugar I need.

Should this be a good diet for someone as active as me? I didn't even see the handout he gave me about diet till I was long gone today.

1. Depends on how heavy you are
I'm very active. I workout every day. But I'm 5'10" and 266. And no I'm not built like a linebacker. I eat around 1800 calories a day as well and I've lost 10 pounds.

Don't you have some medicine that you keep with you for the hypoglycemia? Would carrying candy with you help with combating low blood sugar in case you had an attack?

2. It will depend on how you choose to obtain those calories,
and how much weight you need to lose. 1800 will definitely take the weight off, but can you estimate what your actual daily calorie intake is? If you can give a ballpark estimate of that figure, then just estimate that you'll need to eliminate 500 calories a day to lose a pound a week, if your weight is currently stable. If you've been gaining a pound a week, you'll need to cut approximately 1,000 a day to turn that into a one pound per week loss.

Lots of veggies and starchy (meaning, unrefined) carbs will allow you to eat enough to feel satisfied even as you work out, without causing you to put on weight. And that should also help keep your blood sugar up, but not high.

3. i'm generally eating about 2500 a day.
lots of protein in my diet, lots of carbohydrates.

I don't really feel I need to lose weight, I would just like to tone what I've got.

thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind :hi:
