First weigh-in: 407 on my home scale (~30 down so far, pics posted later)
I will be using my home scale as my "official" scale, simply because I have more reliable access to it. It really shouldn't be much different from what I would get at my doctor's office, although I believe I actually get a reading about 5 pounds less there than I do here in the buff. At any rate, given that my highest reading ever was one of either 434 or 437, at my doctor's office about 3 months ago, I can safely claim to be down somewhere around 30 pounds from that lifetime high. Assuming a final goal weight of 210 I have 197 to go.

My food for today is a large serving bowl of spaghetti, tossed with a little extra virgin olive oil and basil, oregano and hot pepper seeds. I'll be dipping in and eating servings of it as I feel the need.

I'm going to root around the apartment and try to find one of our two digital cameras, so I can take and post some pics of me - and my bike - here later on. To help reduce the fright factor, I will also post pics of my wonderful wife and our three cats. :P So, be sure to check back!

1. Congrats on the weight loss!
Keep up the good work. I Look forward to seeing the pictures. I'm sure you don't look scary. :) I would post some pics of me as well, but I don't have a digital camera or a scanner. I know, I know. I need to step into the 21st century. But I do have a good before picture of myself already. Now I just hope to have a good after picture. Maybe I can get a relative to upload my pictures so I can show them here.

2. PLEASE don't tell me we've lost TWO digital cameras??!?!?!!
I've just checked everywhere that makes sense, plus some places that did not, and there is not a trace of either of the cameras my wife and I used to chat via internet before she moved here to be with me. They're not anything great, just Logitech ClickSmart 510's that are more suited to web cam duty than photography, but damned if it doesn't look like we've lost yet another $200 worth of shit. That, and knowing that now I'm going to have to buy a new camera or I just won't be satisfied, is the bad news.

The good news, on the other hand, is that about 3 months ago my sister-in-law and family stopped by Vegas on their way across country. They left us a disposable Fujifilm camera with pictures of them on it, plus quite a few blank exposures to do with as we wished. We have pictures of each other and all 3 of our cats, and we can take the camera to Target next Friday and get a CD made of them. So, if it does indeed turn out that we're out of a pair of cameras, there is still a way to do as I intended. It's just gonna take a bit longer, and the bike probably isn't in any of the shots.

Sorry to promise this to everyone and then end up having to delay on fulfilling the promise.... :(

3. Congrats Gentle Giant. That's terrific.
Your spaghetti sounds tasty, but not on my GB diet.

4. Congratulations!!!!!
Congratulaions Gentle Giant. Remember that you may be hiding powerful potential beneath that fat. To me, every pound I ever lost was a relinquishing of a very old pain, a commitment to stop holding onto it, to stop letting it steal my joy. I wish you the best. I know you deserve it.
