My new gizmo that measures my calories used during the day
is really cool. I thought I'd tell DUers since we have a group and all...it's the bodybugg, that you wear on your upper arm. You log in to a website and push a button and it uploads your actual calorie use, shows up in a graph with your calorie output per minuts over the course of the day. Input your intake either every meal or at any point during the day, and you can edit later, and hey presto, there's your real fat grams, protein, carbs, calories, and output, with your calorie deficit or surplus for the day.
Super groovy tool.

You can buy the used bodybuggs on ebay and connect with the program online for a fee (don't know what it is because I'm using it through my university's health clinic as a study) and it's probably cheaper that way.

1. Do you have a spec sheet for this thing?
In your product documentation does it say anywhere what the maximum weight is that the device can compute for? I've found that most exercise equipment that offers to calculate your calories burned stops well short of my current weight of around 450-ish. If you can find the answer please post it here. It looks like a fun little toy, and while it's spendy I would consider using one once our debts are squared away.

If you can't help I can e-mail their tech support from home. :)

2. Hi, I'm talking to my support dude tomorrow afternoon and will
ask him. It looks like the way to go is to get a used one and buy the program activation, if the used one is in good working order. Or better, hook up with a researcher. I met this one through my nutritionist at the university, because I'm a student. Some of the research projects I would never sign up for- a friend of mine, in her 40s like me, signed up to take an experimental injection in the butt twice a month that eliminates hunger. She lost a ton of weight but it seems too wierd to me. I'd rather do this one, and understand what my body is using and log what I'm taking in. Can't say enough good about the nutritionist.

Did you know (I didn't) that they can measure your metabolism, even without this gizmo? She measured mine last year, had me breathe into a thingy for an hour or so, and came back with a real number of what it takes to run my body in a resting state- heart, brain, etc. Its about a calorie a minute before I do anything else.

Thanks for asking. Will check back; the call is scheduled during my work day , hope my addled brain remembers to ask. I will do my best.

3. Nutritionist trainer dude said that
they haven't tested it on a large enough group in that range, but he sees no reason why it wouldn't work. Might need to double up the arm strap, it's a little tight on me.

The tough thing is he's asking me to keep my calories to 250 below what I burn so I'll lose 10 pounds by November. November!! I want it gone now! And a bucket more!

But he says limiting the intake more will not work, that's how I got in this mess to start with. So interesting! He says don't worry about the weight, follow the program to be healthy and feel better and the weight will take care of itself. So I will!
