Looking for info for friend on Gastric Bypass support groups
My coworker is very worried about her friend, who is not doing very well at eating and drinking enough after her surgery. She has already ended up back in the hospital once, and could very well end up there again soon. She actually works at a hospital, which has an active support group, but because she chose to have her surgery at an unrelated hospital an hour's drive away, she is not eligible to be a member of this support group. I have been doing some online searches for her, to try to find either a closer person-to-person group, or an active online group that is not associated with a specific hospital or clinic.

I thought I'd ask here if anyone knows of any good resources to pass along to her. She lives/works in Galveston, TX

Thanks:-)

1. There are some really good
online support groups. She might try looking here. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/

It is imperative that she eat and drink properly and take her supplements. I speak from experience here. I ended up in hospital severly malnourished and dehydrated. My labs were really bad and I needed TPN (continuous nutrition through a PICC line). I'm sure she could find some support at the link I provided. It would help to know what sort of surgery she had. there are some groups specific to surgery types.

I wish her all the best. Have her join here if you like, ther are a lot of good people who would gladly encourage and offer support.

2. Thanks.
Sorry it took me so long to reply! Had my final paper due over the weekend, so I was a bit preoccupied! I passed the info along to her. She came by today and seems to be doing better, as far as following doctor's orders. Hopefully she will keep that up!
