Hi - a question about dieting plateaus.
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 11:56 AM by Bunny
I apologize if this has been discussed here before - I'm not a regular reader of this group, but I was hoping for some advice.

I need to lose some weight for health reasons (not just cosmetic although that is an added bonus). Anyway, I've been doing a South Beach type diet since the beginning of January and I've lost 25 pounds without a whole lot of strenuous diet or exercise. But I've been stuck at this plateau for about three weeks now, and I'm getting frustrated.

I've dieted in the past and can easily lose 20-30 pounds fairly quickly, but then I get stuck and can't lose any more no matter how much I try. That has resulted each time in me giving up the diet, and of course gaining it all back and then some.

Now that it's no longer cosmetic, I have to keep trying to lose more weight. If I maintain food intake and exercise at my current pace, will the weight loss once again resume on its own, or do I need to get more rigorous with diet and exercise in order to get back on track?

I should add that I'd like to lose another 40 pounds, but realize that may not be realistic. I'd settle for losing another 25 or 30 pounds. I appreciate any comments you may have.

2. change it up
your body adjusts if you keep doing the same stuff. Try adding more excercise or doing different types of excercise at different times of the day or different intensities.

Remember that our bodies are made for survival and fat storage.

4. Yeah, my body must think I'm in danger of starvation or something.
Not much chance of that!. I'll try to pick up the pace a little - thanks.

6. hi!
pour that water down your throat, increase intensity in intervals on workouts, and go just a tad further in the workouts. I was in a slight plateau for a while, and its what worked for me!
