5. I've been forever
on some kind of diet. It took 3 years of research and self analysis to come to the realization that IF I was ever going to shed those pounds, keep them off and live a while longer weight loss surgery would be my tool of choice. In March of 2005 I had the Biliopancreatic Diversion with a Duodenal switch.

http://www.ccfos.com/switch.htm

It wasn't an easy decision and it certainly wasn't the 'easy' way out as some have tried to suggest.

It's still hard work, getting in enough protein, some exercise and a lot of water each day.

I have to take a LOT of supplements, drink protein shakes and have regular blood work done.

Was it worth it?

HELL yes!!!

6. Good for you!!!
I started LA Weight Loss three weeks ago, and I've gone from "morbidly" to "severely" obese, so I feel good about being on my way.

I'm far too chicken to undergo the surgery, and I don't have enough comorbidities for my insurance to cover it. I admire you for doing it.

8. keep up the good work!
It IS a huge decision to have surgery. I was fortunate to have blue cross blue shield insurance and enough comorbidity / family history to qualify. I had no fight with them at all.

It's an amazing transformation. Some times hard to get used to too!

thanks for your kind words.

21. Hi auntieA!
Errr...not so good; I gained a few pounds (almost 5), now I've got to try and lose again, on top of the 7-10 still to go. I was going through a bit of a rough patch emotionally, and I comfort ate. My comfort eating is having a chocolate bar a day - a bit too much trail mix - and a Harvey's combo once a week (in contrast to one every 2-3 weeks) - no wolfing down ice cream tubs or anything of the like. Since I can't be very active, due to health reasons, I have to watch my diet more than most. I really will gain easily.

I'm feeling better now, so it's back to the drawing board!! :hi:
