3. it seems i replied to my own post as i was trying to reply to you, so
here i am posting a copy of the reply i intended for you.

a program for those who do not want, or are not
eligible for, bariatric surgery ... the program begins with a medical check up and the notion of wellness, from being weighed, and measured, and medically checked by a medical doctor, to having consultations with a hypnotherapist, a psychologist, a nutritionist, excercise experts, support, support, support and 12 weeks of eating lots of high fiber shakes and bars and soups and of being medically checked once a week, as well as being weighed and measured once a week. A 24 hour phone line support service--and, at least for me, it is an experience in dieting i never had before, and one that i am much in need of at this time... at week four or five of the diet--depending on how the weight loss is going and how you are doing they may even introduce some appetite suppressant medications on to your program...an aspect that i have declined because i really don't want any drugs to help curb my appetite and because there are several health risks involved in taking some of these drugs.

yesterday was my first day of shakes and high fiber bars and drinks (and the diet allows 2 cups of low fat milk per day or 1 cup of yogurt) and i must really say, i did not get hungry. we'll see how today goes.

sorry about the mix-up and how i posted this message. and THANKS in wishing luck...i will need it!

:)

4. Is it Optifast or Medifast or one of the others?
I did Medifast in 2003 and lost about 60 pounds. I went to my doctor for check-ups but it wasn't the same as your intense medical supervision. Anyway, I belonged to a message board for folks on liquid diets and it was very helpful. It's www.liquiddietdiscussion.com. Hamilton, the guy who runs it, lost 100 pounds on Optifast. Since then, he's got his own line of products but except for a link to sell them, he doesn't push them on anyone and folks were very supportive of one another, no matter which product they were using. You might want to check it out.

Let us know how you're doing. Your method WILL work but the most important part will be learning to make the changes to keep the weight off. When you lose quickly, your body seems to be more susceptible to gaining quickly. :(

7. hi. thanks for the post.
the program is U.S. BARIATRICS. just this morning i was thinking about how hungry I felt and how much I already miss the food that i usually put in my mouth... i was also thinking that after they introduce back to food, they are going to have to teach me, and i am going to have to learn to "make the changes to keep the weight off" as you wo well put it.

5. Wow, 24 hour phone support.
That's kick-ass! So you can pick up the phone when-ever you feel like you are having difficulty!

Good job. Make sure to start adding in some gentle exercise when you feel ready. I have lost weight with diet alone, and I have lost weight with exercise alone, but in my experience, doing BOTH TOGETHER is what really helps you make the chance and what makes it stick.

Plus, exercise is FUN! When you find something you like to do, it really makes a WONDERFUL difference in your mood and morale!

Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 12:43 PM by flordehinojos
for right now i am walking around with a pedometer measuring the number of steps i take in the day.
i know i'll have to add some form of exercise...most probably walking around the neighborhood on a regular basis...and yes, exercise is part of the program!

:)

edited to add: i love those pink fuzz handcuffs... i wish i could put them on my refrigerator door.
they would work as a great, loving reminder!

9. hi auntAgonist ...
thanks for the support (and the invite to join this DU GROUP) ... i really appreciate being around people who understand and appreciate the fragility of one's ability to stick to a diet and all of the support and encouragement one needs.

:)
