2. good for you chavezspeaks the truth
the first meeting was a hard one for me, a friend of mine came to it with me though.

AA works, if you work it.

Look for people who are staying sober, and working the program, and are "winners" so to speak, and not the ones who come in over and over saying "I slipped", not a judgment on them, just saying that you need to be around sober people and well I'm just tickled to see you posting this.

:woohoo:

congratulations

SPK

4. I learn a lot from those who "slipped"
Having seen them sober, and then seeing them again after they fell off the wagon strengthens my resolve not to be one of them. Of course, you have to hang out in the rooms for some time before you can experience this.

3. Welcome to our group.
I am so glad you went and you feel good about it. I am glad your wife also went along, support of family is so important (but I am sure you know that).

Just remember to take it one day at a time, and if that is too much you can break it down to one moment at a time. And don't let anyone in the rooms tell you that you do not belong. Only you can decide if you are one of us or not.

5. Welcome to our little group
As they say, "we are not a glum lot". I was afraid that if I got sober I'd turn into some grim prude: not a bit of it. I can't remember when I've laughed so hard as I've done at some AA meetings.

Or cried so hard. But if you're ready to cry anyway, there's no better place to do it than in a meeting. Everyone will understand, and they will help you get through it.

I'm glad you're here.

7. Good for you, ChavezST.
I'm glad you and your wife both made it together.

Attend different meetings so you get a feel for
what meetings you like the best.

Welcome to our group and remember,

It's One Day at a Time.
--just for today.

Break it down to one hour at a time, if necessary.

:hi: :pals:
