Partner choice 'shaped by father'
No huge surprises here, but ..

Much as she might hate to admit it, a woman's choice of partner may depend a lot on her own father.

Scientists have found women who were treated well by their dad during childhood are attracted to men who resemble their father facially.

But the link is lost on women who did not have good relationships with their fathers.

...

Dr Boothroyd said previously it had been thought selecting partners similar to our parents was because our parents are the people from whom we learn what our species looks like.

But she said the research shows there is a more emotional component involved in the process.

1. Interesting...
I adored my father, and always wanted guys who were tall, with pretty eyes and nice hands, who were musicians and artists, and I was always attracted to guys who were very calm and collected. And had great senses of humor.

reprehensor is 5'10" (still taller than me) with dark hair and pretty eyes (much darker than dad's though), plays guitar, and paints. He's also extremely mellow, and has a great sense of humor. Just like my dad.

:D

3. Hrrmmmmm... interesting
Well, my dad was very masculine, macho looking, strong jaw line, dark hair and blue eyes. (Yes, vaguely George Clooney! :P ) He was also the strong silent type.

I am attracted to similar men today. :P I had the most excruciating crush on my boss at one job. He was dark haired, strong jaw line.... Heh. going to work sure was fun :-)

4. Thank goodness
I didn't marry someone like my dad. That would have been and extension of hell. I did date at least one for a very long time (years) that was like him in temperament. Dodged that bullet and ended up marrying a really wonderful guy who treats me very well. We ain't got much but we do have a wonderful relationship and that's all I want.

6. That was my first thought:
perhaps this explains why I have not married and really have no desire to do so.
