Get an elevation plot of any bike ride in the world.

1. That's pretty cool.
It took me a few minutes to figure it out. But that's pretty slick.

2. It's totally accurate.
Other than the phantom elevation gain at the end, this is my daily ride. Totally unknown trails that climb very steeply through the mountains. It's within 25 feet in elevation accuracy. A good use of Google Earth.

What's weird is that I actually called a bike shop out of the area today to see what the elevation gain was for their local ride. Now I can just use this. Thanks.

3. Wow!
Awesome. I'm comparing various climbs around here that I can/can't do. So far it seems that 3% is no problem, but I really suck at 7% or steeper...

4. You love riding.
That's what's important. Climbing is dictated by size. I'm tiny, and climbing has always been easy. But I can't ride the downhills or long fast flats. I'll always remember how surprised I was the first time I encountered this huge guy. His legs were like tree trunks. But without even thinking, I left him in the dust on a climb. I was a young kid, and this guy was some professional sprinter.

There's always someone who can kick our ass. I ride alone now. And just for the love of it. I see you're in Indiana. I have no idea how the riding is there.

5. It's pretty flat here.
But I live near a river valley that can get you lungs bursting and your pulse pounding in your ears just as good as the Cascades.

8. A rule of thumb that racers shoot for is 2lbs for every inch of height
at 6'3" I'd have to get down to 150 lbs. That ain't *never* gonna happen... :P

On the other hand Miguel Indurain was almost as tall, won his first TDF at 190 lbs then lost 30 lbs and won four more.
