Lost my virginity yesterday
I wanted to be sure my first Century was the right Century, but how do you know...for sure?

The Cool Breeze is Ventura, CA to Santa Barbara and back with a brief sojourn into the hills above SB through some beautiful back country with vineyards, horses, private estates, then down along the beach for 40mi within a stone's throw of the Pacific (I would have taken pix but I was too busy suffering :P).

Great food and people.

104 mi
15.6 avg mph

3. You're a God!
15 MPH average? No SHIT!

I bow to your superior pedaling!

That rocks! I'm not riding our Century this year. I don't feel like I can do it and I'm not interested in riding 50 miles 2 years in a row. If I wanna ride just 50 miles, I'll go do it alone.

Wow. 15.4 AVERAGE....

4. It's weird
but doing 100mi with a group almost felt easier than doing 50 alone. I was drafting about half the time. Hardest part wasn't my legs but a sore ass :(

5. Way too fast.
gwbush* our pResident only rides at 8.5mph (17 miles/2hrs), and the CorpoMedia says he is (one of) the fittest men in America.
If the Fatherland Security Dept. finds out that you are riding faster then bush*, you will have a nice vacation in Gitmo.
Even Lance Armstrong was required to stay behind the our glorious pResident*.

Please report to the nearest re-education camp.

"You know, Mr. President, you'd go a lot faster if you took the training wheels off."

8. You mean to tell me MY 400 pound ass is gonna be faster than *???
I mean, I'm already up to almost 50 minutes now, and I average a hair over 10mph. By the time I can go 2 hours, I should also be able to average about 11mph as my legs will be strong enough to allow me to use higher gears more.

Somehow, that just makes me feel soooooo GOOD! And the best part is, it'll cost 'em too much in jet fuel to haul my ass to Gitmo, so I'm probably safe... for now. :silly:

9. You never forget your first one
Congratulations!

Medical issues have sidelined me for much of this year, and now that I am back on my bike finally, I don't think I'll have time to reach century-level abilities. Well, there's always next year.

12. Unfortunately not
Time and cash flow prevents it. I certainly would I if I could. I had an amazing time the last time I went.

Yup, ya never quite forget your first Century....

Hey, I grew up in Ojai. Did you happen to go past Lake Casitas? Just curious. Sounds like it was a great ride. It's so beautiful in those parts.

16. Nope
Didn't quite get that far inland.

It was a great ride--very well organized. I think this is going to be an annual event...
