LA doctor found guilty on all counts in road rage trial
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 12:02 AM by wtmusic
"A Los Angeles Superior Court jury on Monday found Dr. Christopher Thomas Thompson guilty of assaulting cyclists by abruptly stopping his car in front of them on a hilly Los Angeles County road last year. Thompson, a former emergency room doctor, was found guilty of six felonies and one misdemeanor and could face as much as five years in prison."

<>

"In the July 4 incident, the two cyclists hit the rear of Thompson's car; one slammed through the rear window, the other catapulted over the car into the road. In the earlier incident, the cyclists said they narrowly avoided hitting the rear of Thompson's car."

Though I'm glad he was found guilty, for your own safety never EVER flip off a driver.

1. That highway had been getting busier with more cyclists
...Because it was a good, fun, and challenging ride. What's the solution for this? It is counterintuitive to stop and let traffic go by. I would be stopping all of the time. Maybe the government needs to build some cyclist pull-outs at intervals. I have used those when I was poking up a scenic road in my rental car. They could build uphill and downhill pullouts.

Cyclists are banned from Trail Ridge Road during midday hours in Glacier National Park. That is certainly different than a state highway, though.

Remember when "columnist" Robert Novak intentionally struck a pedestrian in DC? A cyclist caught up with him and set the cops on him. (the guy who finked out CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson)

3. So glad to hear this. And that he was forthwith remanded to custody
as a flight risk and threat to public safety.
Let us now hope the sentence is adequate.
