I'm in major training mode for an organized century ride on 10/1
It's been over 6 yrs since I've done one, so I'm taking it pretty seriously.

Here's my plan for this week, the week that my kids are in day camp from 8am-5pm, so I've got lots of time...Yahooo!!! :bounce:

Today: 23 miles. Check.
Tuesday: 50 miles
Wednesday: 20 miles
Thursday: 40 miles
Friday: NOTHING.
Saturday: 15 miles
Sunday: NOTHING.

It's all about just spendin' time in the saddle....

Anybody else out there training for a century? :hi:

1. of course - see here:
http://209.132.203.145/dahlonega/aboutus.asp?id06=124&par06=23

riding 300 miles per week to get ready -

got 33rd out of 2000 people last year :smoke:

Also if you are serious about a century you need to ride everday even if it is for 20 minutes on a the rest days - this will make a HUGH difference

2. Wow, impressive!
your century looks challenging. over 10,000 feet of climbing, eh? And we thought we had it bad out here in the Santa Cruz mountains...:D Good on ya!
Here's a linkie poo for our little ride. It's a sweet one and for a good cause, which makes it even better.

Today I rode over 55 miles. Tomorrow, I'm planning 25-30. Thursday, 40-50. Yup, I like your advice to get out as much as possible, even if it's just for a little bit.

It's all about time in the saddle....Good luck with your ride! :hi:

3. very cool ride
for a great cause as well.

Once you have about 12-14 days of riding in a row for your training, you will be able to ride anywhere.

It's all about time in the saddle yep not about time in the shorts.

4. Seagull Century 10/7
Last time I did one I hadn't done anything over 30 miles the month before. I'm going to do some short fast rides during the week and then a longer ride on weekends, no idea what mileages I'm looking at yet. Unfortunately the guy I've been riding with is going in for hernia surgery so I'll lose my training partner.
