1. Sometimes I miss having a team to loathe.
The Mariners don't have any natural rivals.
Probably the Yankees is the closest we've had,
and that was years ago (the '95 wildcard).

But then again, just so long as the war stays
in the Sports Group. I like this nice quiet
little place.

13. You know, I was wondering awhile ago why there weren't too many
cross-over postings between the groups, but now I'm glad there are not many!! I read the NY Times online, and even their forums are filled with flamefests, except for the cooking group, whose members have the unfortunate tedency to have signatures sometimes the lengths of recipes!

14. Yeah, well there are let me put it this way
Some Yanks and Some Sox fans who I like and some who piss me off. I like the Sox better because I think we can beat them easier :D, and I guess I ID with the city of Boston more than I do NYC, but I am for one loving being in second place no matter how brief

2. I read all of the threads
and posted in the only open one.

Generalizations like this only happens in Boston are patently untrue...I remember seeing Twins fans throwing stuff at Chuck Knoblauch when he played right field for the Spankees.

It happens everywhere.

5. I agree...
I recall a few years ago Mets fans threw batteries at John Rocker...bad form on the fan's part but it's not like that asshole didn't deserve it.

As for the flame fests...I think this cute little guy  sums up my feelings perfectly

6. I like being netural
but to be honest, I have a bias towards the Sox rather than the Yankees, though our manager is a New York product, played for the Mets and later coached for the Yanks, I just can not stand them Yanks for many reasons.

8. Maybe it is the Spankees and their fans that think people only
attack and throw stuff at their players, again not true. Ever been to a Vikings Packers game????

11. Rocker was the exception to any rule of behaviour..
what he needed was a ride on the A train from beginning to end (longest subway line in NYC) with a sign on his back (& an outbreak of 'blue flu' among the transit authority cops.)

4. I do too, I'd prefer to be wild card to the Sox honestly though
I feel we can handle them better. They're off to a nice start honestly, we have to take at least one of three this weekend though to keep our lead over the Yankees, I would prefer a humilating sweep :).

7. I've gone on the offensive today
Boston needed to defend itself. The generalizing was getting ridiculous.
Unfortunately, most of the threads have been deleted.

9. Oh I dont blame you for going on the offensive
I saw the sweeping generalizations. Ive told you that I like the Sox way more than the Yankees, I even like them. BTW, we're beating evil err the yankees right now :).

15. I have little reactions to other teams' fans, altho..
I do confess an aversion to those cities where everyone holds and waves the same things in their hands all game long.

I think my biggest objection to the Red Sox, other than Curt 'I love Bush' Shitting, is their intentional lack of grooming. Kids who are on teams in poor neighborhoods do what they can to look as neat as possible, even if it's in multi-patched team shirts. I don't care abt facial or long hair but the intentional slob look to me is disrespectful of the game.I must be getting old.

16. Schilling is an asshole
But I think one of the best big game pitchers in the game. Well yeah I truth be told dont have a big problem with people who are from the NYC Area who root for the Yanks but you have people like my carpool mate who roto for them simply because they are good, and that kind of shit pisses me off. I thought Damon was the only one who didnt shave on the Sox, and hey, if you saw my face right now, you'd say the same, sometimes I dont feel like shaving.
