Mariner Fans check in here!

Okay, we got some bats. Now will we or
won't we get some pitching?

Jamie Moyer has got to stay healthy.

1. Yes, the offense sure seems to be there now
Hope they can get a pitching staff together. Is Villone going to be a starter, so there are two lefties in the rotation? I'd feel better if they hadn't traded off Freddie.

2. Nobody even knows if Franklin is going to be a starter yet,
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 05:10 PM by kaitykaity
and he pitched great today -- no runs, 5 innings,
45 pitches (five hits I think).

It was wierd. Beltrade was on, then Sexton hit a
line drive home run. I was like I hope that's a
sign of things to come. (Then of course Boonie
whiffed so there went that idea.)

3. And so ends spring training.

The kid closing gives up two solo shots in the bottom
of the 9th, the Mariners lose 3-2.

Glad I don't believe in omens.

is enough to make my Mariner heart bleed blue and green.

10. Rats
The Mariners really do have some hitters this year and pitching, cause the Twins sure couldn't connect with the ball today (though there was some great fielding by the Twins). Congrats on your opener.

11. Aaron Sele tonight...
I was one of the first to support the idea of signing Sele to a minor league contract, before it was even apparent that they would do just that. That being said, I hope that he isn't here for long. With Pineiro on the DL, and Felix not ready for a little while, we'll have to live with Sele on the roster. That's not necessarily a bad thing if he can pitch like he's capable of pitching.

12. Big, big if.

I'm less concerned about Sele than I am about the
quiet bats. We need some offense, and we need it
yesterday.

Always leaves the pitcher in there one pitch too
long. Jamie walks a guy after he fouls off like 7
pitches or something, and up comes Sandy Alomar who's
2-2 on the day and hits Jamie well.

Ayup. RBI single, Jamie leaves behind 3-1 instead
of 2-1.

:grr:

15. And to have men on 1st and 3rd with 2 out bottom nine
and have Beltre swing first pitch and hit
a weak fly ball to end it.

:wtf:

16. I don't want to jinx anything, but
I'm much, much happier than I was at this time
last year. They were 1-6 instead of 3-4.

17. hey'll do a lot better this year
their offense looks like it may be picking up, and their pitching may turn out to be better than expected. It looks like the Hassegawa of 2003 is back, instead of the 2004 version, for instance.

18. Poor Kansas City. I'm glad it's them and not me.

Boy, when the wheels come off, they come off.

Six run bat-around for the Mariners in the top of
the fourth.

Run support for Jamie Moyer is a wonderful bonus.

19. Sexson pounding the ball again
He seems to like getting his home runs in pairs.
It's good to see the whole lineup has started hitting. And Moyer has been very good so far this season.

20. If they can keep beating up on the weak sisters and then
splitting with the good teams, this might
not be such a bad year after all.

And it seems like they play better away from
Safeco, something about that marine air.

21. I was wondering...
Did they even sweep a series at all last year? I can't remember.
Too bad the Angels don't have Bob Melvin for a manager this year. hehe
