I have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder. This is the first winter I have
tried light therapy, and I don't believe it is working.

I can "feel" myself starting to sink down and it is a scary sensation - especially when I know the difference in how I feel during the summer.

I don't know if I am not doing the light therapy correctly or what. I bought this Spectrum light especially for this use.

Any help, suggestions, or experiences will be GREATLY appreciated.

Patricia

1. This is going to sound flippant
and oversimplified, but please know that I don't mean it to be:

Have you considered moving?

My Mom battled this for years here in the midwest. I don't suffer from it, but I watched her battle it each and every fall and winter. She bought the lights. She tried everything and none of it worked.

Finally, she moved to Florida. She's much happier now (well, except for that whole Jeb Bush being governor part).

Now, mind you, this move was not easy. She fought and fought it for years and it was a major struggle. She never thought moving was an option for her, but she persued it anyway and somehow made it work.

Seeing the difference in her, I began to wonder if possible the universe/God/Goddess/still small voice inside (whatever fits with your belief system) was trying to tell her something with the SAD. Her life is radically different now and she is much happier for it.

I'm sorry I could not offer you any suggestions for the short term. And I apologize if the advice I did offer is impractical or unwanted.

I hope you find help, because I certainly sympathize with your plight.
