How can you tell if your tubes have been tied?
LOL, I know this sounds silly, but is there a quick, un-evasive test to take to determine if you have tied tubes? Would it show on an ultra sound?

1. They're small and hard to visualize on ultrasound
The only way to test if they are open is laporoscopic surgery. This is usually done when the female partner of an infertile couple is being evaluated for scar tissue buildup inside them.

Tubes that are thickened by scar tissue, infection or early ectopic pregnancy are the only ones that can be seen easily on ultrasound.

3. There is a test that can show whether your tubes are patent or not.
It's called a "hysterosalpingogram" and it involves shooting dye up into the uterus and tubes, followed by an X ray. It is invasive, but not nearly as much so as a laparoscopic procedure, and can usually be done in the office and without anesthesia. It's usually a standard part of an infertility workup.
