So, I'm new to this board.
I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Epstein Barr.

Apparently, I caught mono at some point in my life, but did not exhibit many of the symptoms. Whereas most people build antibodies to fight the mono virus, my body does not. I have had this for years and didn't know.

I had extreme fatigue, was sleeping 12+ hours, put on unexplained weight, had headaches, brain fogs, body aches to the bone, etc. While Chronic Epstein Barr can affect people in different ways, it really hit my metabolism. I have a student who has Chronic Epstein Barr, and it hit her immune system hard.

Basically, this sucked. I am now on a very strict regiment of vitamins, loading up on the Vitamin B, take a monthly injection of Vitamin B (so much that I actually get a headache and pee orange for a day or two,) and take Lexapro once per day.

I was concerned at first because Lexapro is an anti-depressant and I'm not depressed. However, this is a fairly new treatment. The idea is to get my metabolism moving. And let me tell you, it has worked. I've lost 15 pounds in three weeks. I'm almost down to my usual weight. And I am feeling so much better. I'm still adjusting to the meds, as it makes me dizzy and feeling high (hmmmm... do I want to adjust???) but things, after several years, are looking so much better.

1. Sometimes better living through chemistry works
and sometimes it doesn't. Most folks on this board have been through multiple courses of multiple drugs to find the one that actually works.

Chronic disease sucks. Welcome to the club.

2. I'm just starting out. I anticipate hitting many walls before the final resolution.
This is all new to me.
