Cysts
I keep having zits that blow up into huge painful cysts that have to surgically opened and drained. x(

I have a zit in my ear canal. I don't know why I get them there, but I do. This one hurts like hell and hasn't gone away in a week now. I'm worried that it's turning into a cyst. My ear is closed up, and I can't touch anyplace within a few inches of my ear without pain.

x(

I will have to call my doctor tomorrow and see how soon she can fit me in. Maybe I'll swing my the ER to have it checked out.

Fuck! :(

2. Does that help?
When an infection is subcutaneous I don't know if putting an antibiotic on the surface will help.

I do have Neosporin in the house. I'll give that a try.

4. It doesn't. However, I got a few of those when I was a kid
and soaking a washcloth in water as hot as I could stand it and putting it on the infected area seemed to help.

The best help is going to a doctor and getting it lanced and then applying antibiotics to it once the skin is broken.

The one in your ear needs quick attention. That one has the potential of spreading to places you don't want bacteria, ever.

6. Hi Warpy.
I have been soaking hand-clothes in scalding water and laying them against the ear. This morning it began to drain! :woohoo:

If something didn't happen today I was going to be in the ER this evening getting it lanced

5. Hi ThomCat! Some interesting 'cures' on Earth Clinic-

http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/cystic_acne.html:hi:

I hope you find the help you need.

And, btw, If I were you I would get tested for MRSA- just to make sure.

8. One of my kids uses
an "Erythromycin/Benzoyl Peroxide Gel." You have to get a script from your physician. The key is to begin using the cream as you feel the cyst coming on. I've tried it myself and it sure saves on some misery.....as my cysts usually required surgery in the past.

10. UPDATE
I had two abscesses, not cysts. One on my throat and one inside my left ear. They've both been opened and drained. The one on my throat is packed. Both are still bleeding, but I was told that's normal for a few days.

I go back in two days to have them checked out again.

I have to try to see an ENT later this week, and then a dermatologist when I can later on.

Thank you all for good information. I really appreciate it. :)
