1. Not at all.
I find the use of that word to be inflammatory. But, what I think pisses me off more are the people 'defending' its use by stating "we" (Jews) don't "own" the word. These are often the same people who will screech how offensive it is when other groups use, but when we do, it is OK. Our (democrats) people use it and then all bets are off. I have seen the anti-choice people use it, PETA, and several other groups, and every time, it is a disgrace and dishonors the 12 million destroyed by the Nazi regime. The other thing about this that has pissed me off, but not to the extent of the other issue, is the fact a Jew used it. So what?! Personally, I think he should have used another word and he should have "known better," but that is my opinion. But for many here, the use of something anti-Semitic when used by Jew justifies their anti-Semitic remarks. I am not saying this is anti-Semitic...not even close. It is just that because a Jew used it, then it must be OK.

I am particular to the use of language. While the word "holocaust" has a literal meaning, after the Nazi regime, that word forever changed. What is happening in Rwanda is an ongoing holocaust. There was an Armenian Holocaust. What is happening in this country with its sad, pathetic health-care system is NOT a holocaust! It is a tragedy, perhaps even a genocide, but a holocaust? No.

I think you did good!

2. Was a good post
The term "Holocaust" should be reserved to the events that took place in Europe in the early 40s. Similarly, the term "Nazi" should be reserved to people and groups who admire Hitler's and follow his ideas.
