New blog: "There was more than one Deep Throat " - 6/6/05
SECAUCUS — Mark Felt’s day basking in the spotlight of history — at least his day basking alone in that spotlight — proves to have been brief.

Felt, according to a former colleague, was in effect a Spokes-Source for Bob Woodward and The Washington Post, funneling information collected by a number of other FBI personnel who knew full well whatever they told Felt, he’d tell Woodward. There was Throat, and, in essence, a bunch of Throat-ettes.

Since Felt’s self-revelation we have asked if his information could have constituted less than 100 percent of the material Woodward and Bernstein have attributed to their now-revealed source.

Now, we’ve got the answer — albeit with a significant caveat — from the newspaper The Albany Times-Union.

1. is that whirring sound...
the right wing spin beginning to screech into action? They nearly had a collective heart attack condemning Felt. The idea that there were many individuals within the government who thought that investigating the possibly criminal acts of a President were more important than concealing said acts is going to send the RW right off a cliff. They don't want to face the possibility that there might be other individuals within our government today who feel that more recent activities demand scrutiny...

2. I sure hope it is.
Boy, Keith's a lean, mean bloggin' machine. It's getting to the point where if I can't check his site in the morning, checking it in the afternoon is a must! And wouldn't you know it...the latest news reveals he's right again!

I still don't know how all these guys managed to keep mum all these years, some going to their graves without saying a word. THAT's what surprises me--even more so than that there would have been more than one.

I can only hope that all this Deep Throat talk has got a lot of people thinking. A President abused the Constitution before. Some people got together and decided to make their contribution to putting a stop to it. Their contribution? Making sure that things they knew got into the media...and kept getting into the media, until they were impossible to ignore anymore.

It has been done before. It can be done again.
