1. Like I said, people won't believe it but I never saw "Head On" till now.

My personal hated ad right now runs sometimes during Countdown. It's the one AmEx ad with the female voiceover saying "They can make you rich...or they can make you poor." I hit the mute as soon as it comes on. I can't stand that woman's voice. She's trying to sound very sincere as she talks about forming relationships with one's customers, but she comes off sounding as if she's on the verge of tears, with her voice cracking. I cannot STAND female voiceovers where the woman sounds as if she's trying to be so sincere that her voice is cracking with the tearful emotion of it all.

edited to add: Nice to see ya, Gogi. For a bit there I was afraid you'd gotten hit with a garbage can.

2. No such luck...
might have gotten an interview with KO! At least I'd have made it on Oddball. An honor either way and a good story to tell people.

3. Personally, I've got a grudge against the sanitary napkin...
that sounds like a pinball machine. OBVIOUSLY, done by a man.

And probably the same one who did the tampon commercial where they're in a boat which sprung a leak, and the woman takes out a tampon to plug the hole. x(

4. I actually thought that was kind of funny
We've come a long way from when "feminine products" were something you were supposed to hide, as if having a period was something to be ashamed of.

5. I have to admit, though, I thought those ads were dumb.
It's not that it's anything to be ashamed of--I just wonder what goes through a man's head when he sees these ads.

The boat-hole ad: "Wow, I didn't realize they needed THAT much help. Eww."

The pinball machine ad: "Man, would I love to play that one."

Yes, gentlemen, it's true: women's private parts are just a pinball machine. Be sure you don't run out of balls and keep up steady bumper action or you'll tilt. But if you do it right, hey: free game!

6. Commercial that ticked me off recently
Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 07:45 PM by Greylyn58
was one by Orbit Gum with Snoop Dog. At first I thought it was funny until I saw the small disclaimer in white--almost can't see it unless you pay attention.

In case you haven't seen the ad, let me splain...

The 30-second spot begins with Snoop concluding a speech at a grade-school career day with the words: "And that's what it's like to be a gangster."

The horrified, slack-jawed looks on the students' faces is funny before Snoop then immolates and descends to hell, which features hideous, carping old women on a couch. One devil says to him: "Welcome Mr. Snoop Dog. your filthy mouth has landed you down here with us -- forever." But Snoop is rescued by the Orbit gum-toting angel.

He then appears in heaven with lots of beautiful women swinging around him. What ticked me off about this commercial is the small white disclaimer that you will miss if you blink.

"Disclaimer: Orbit gum will not get you into heaven!"

I kid you not. I was totally taken aback. HOW STUPID DOES MADISON AVE. THINK WE ARE!!!

I say this, but then I remember there is a large portion of this country that are stupid. After all they voted for Bush, not once, but twice.

7. Not only that
they think the Rapture is coming & have to get their hair & nails done daily so they look good for Jesus. :eyes:

A DUer came up with a really funny bumpersticker: "The Rapture was last week. Sorry you missed it."
