This is hysterical!

And did who saw the thread the other day with the link to the "Rapture Ready" site? These people are out of their minds. Here's the link to the thread they were talking about:

http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=264610

Here's the main site:

http://www.rr-bb.com

What a bunch of loonies. Randi was talking about them today and I someone else was talking about them yesterday, especially the woman who had to get her hair and nails done before the Rapture.

1. They're nuts
I've never really understood why so many want the end of the world to come when Revelation was really about the time it was written (end of the Roman Empire).

When I have someone do the "are you ready for Rapture?", I ask sure, "What's your address because when you're gone, I want your stuff." ;)

2. LOL
I'm still out there reading. It's mesmerizing -- they'd probably think we're all crazy, but I can't believe some of the stuff they're saying. It's pretty entertaining, actually, in an SNL kind of way only scary because you know these people really feel this way.

Some stayed home from work, can't concentrate or do anything but watch the news and stay on-line -- they're convinced it's going to happen any minute and they want to be ready. And we wonder why this country has become such a mess -- it's people like this who have done it to us.

3. This is why the fundies support Israel
Not because they are tolerant, not because of what happened during the Holocaust, but so that Jesus can come back & save everyone. When Jesus comes, there will only be Christians. We needed you to build the Temple again, now you've done that & your job is done. Convert, or die.

This is why I go insane when I hear Jews spouting support for shrubbie & the fundies because of their stance on Israel.

5. Oh, I know all that, all right
And most of them out there can't even spell "Israel" correctly -- they spell it "Isreal." It's interesting that most of them seem to be women.

8. Nobody learns a THING from history.
Haven't there been numerous cases of groups of people more or less sitting down to await the End? Haven't people been doing this since at least the first century A.D.?

I'm old enough to remember when people went around saying Henry Kissinger was the antichrist (yes, I realize that's quite a reasonable subject for discussion in some circles). But it sickens me to hear that people are responding to the current horror as though it were a deliverance.

10. So much so
one of their site admins popped in to ask why they were celebrating all the suffering going on, especially about that poor woman who died in the Big Dig.

:hi: CB! Haven't seen you around lately! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

14. LOL! - Waiting for the rapture happened as soon as Jesus ascended.
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 11:57 PM by RevCheesehead
Acts 1:11 - "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."

Acts 2:2 - "And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting."

Mission Accomplished. O8)

9. Get a load of this!
Can you imagine being a hate filled person that "preaches" tolerance but really really hates Christians when the rapture does happen. It must be sad to live like that. I feel sorry for them and feel we should pray for them. Their tolerance doesn't include anyone but themselves, and all they preach is hate.

The graphic on this post says "Coulter '08." Got some cognitive dissonance going on there, pal? That and some serious projection going on in that post. The most intolerant people I've run across lately are fundies. I even had to cut a friend off because she got so rabid.

And here's a response:

11. Maybe if we're lucky they'll all get raptured and leave the
rest of us to live in peace. (Or maybe they'll starve to death because they can't seem to find the time to go shopping because they don't want to leave their teevees and computers.)

If He tarries, I will just have time to get my hair and nails done (you know let all I come into contact with know of my Bridegroom and what He has/will do). So i am all spiffied up for Him when He does arrive to take me home. No disappointment, just a few last minute details to take care of to be more pleasing to look at.

15. Having now looked at the site, it's their cultural ignorance...
...that annoys me the most. The site attributes the lyrics of "Anything Goes" to Ella Fitzgerald. :eyes: I frankly adore Miss Ella, but she never claimed to be the lyricist of that song. It's Cole Porter, who was -- uh-oh, RR site people -- decidedly attracted to MEN. Anything goes indeed.

16. I love this chick who says "I am a Jewish Princess!"
Maybe THAT's why she thinks she has to get her hair and nails done before the Rapture. (rim shot)

But seriously folks, I really do not know what to make of these louts. I know idiotic people have been waiting for the Rapture to happen any second for a long, long time, and I really should not doubt that there really are people that nutty out there just as there were in times past. And I know there are conservative nutjobs out there who are born-again loonies who are pro-Israel in every way, because they simply see the creation of Israel and the mass conversion of the Jews as things that have to take place before the Rapture can happen.

But I sometimes look at sites like this and say "This HAS to be a parody. It cannot be real."

Of course, the truly scary thing is that it probably IS real.

18. Oh believe me, it's real
As I mentioned in another post, I had to cut off a long-time friend because she was too far gone with these wackos. They really do believe this stuff & no matter what evidence you try to show them to the contrary, they won't believe it. "If it's not in the Bible, it's not the truth. You can't just pick & chose what you want to believe. " "Well, then, give me your car because cars aren't in the Bible & therefore, you shouldn't be driving or owning one." "Oh, that's different." "How?" ::crickets::

20. Whoopee. :-)
Oh, I know, there are scary people out there and they have scary beliefs. I had said on some other threads that these people reminded me of the Hale-Bopp cult, and others posted and said they had actually seen Hale-Bopp cultists posting on groups they belonged to long ago, and that they were otherwise normal people but when it came to that comet and what they thought it meant, they were just...nuts.
