I'm not that hardcore. I just love reading all about terror, it's causes, the groups, etc. I used to read the translations of bin Ladin's speeches and so on. It's fascinating stuff. Part of it was I was curious after 9/11, then I became more into it when I was a columnist. I felt that the Middle East was so complex that I hated mentioning anything about the area without knowing what I was talking about. Terrorism is part of that whole concept of looking into the ME.

I took her in today, and she had an abcessed tooth. She hadn't eaten or drank anything in quite a while, so she was terribly dehydrated. But the vet thought that she still had a chance, so went ahead with surgery. She's still coming out of the anesthesia, and is quite groggy. But get this: the vet said she might take Binky home with her tonight, just to make sure she's OK!
