16. Yeah, and not nearly as much fun to get.
:hi: Hola, chicas! It's another 30 Rock Night! Keith did his own hair again, and he looks much better dressed.

I'm so glad Keith is dismantling the "Weapons of Mass Distraction." Sheesh. I was getting SO annoyed just listening to Rummy again. And now I have to keep listening to this "cut and run, cut and run" crap over and over again.

Alter is right: the Dems need to make "the President's failed strategy in Iraq" THEIR mantra they keep repeating over and over.

76. They need a cohesive message
Because the press has no desire to help them point out the points of a withdrawl plan. It has to be in small words like "cut and run" (which sounds like the name of the next Steven Segal movie). No attention span, plus a plan = victory.

:hi:, Berry.

48. True story
for years, my mom would "conspire" with us to get my dad the most horrific ties imaginable & in the 70's that wasn't too hard. ;) There were gales of laughter each time he opened one of those god-awful things & moaned & carried on about how awful it was & why oh why wouldn't we ever get him a decent tie?

Turns out the joke was on us. My dad hated wearing ties & he actually loved getting the god-awful ones because it was his strike against "the Man" & whenever someone commented on how bad they were, he'd have fun watching their reaction when he said "My kids got it for me. Don't you like it?"

40. either that or he'll quietly replace the glasses months from now when
he thinks we won't connect the substitution with the comments. :7 Although to be fair, it takes forever to get a decent pair of bifocals made, so he probably wouldn't have had time to replace them even if he'd wanted to.

65. Chill. Given his age, he probably needs them, especially since
he spends a fair bit of time sitting in front of a computer. I've known quite a few people who went to the progressive lens bifocals to avoid getting a special pair of glasses for computer use. (It's not a glare issue, it's a reading tiny print at an intermediate distance issue.)

78. I'm not unchilled. I just wanted to know.
Some people in their forties have worn glasses for decades, and their vision is just plain bad at any distance, so they have regular lenses. He *could* be one of those.

I'm in my forties, I sit in front of a computer all day, and I wear one kind of glasses all the time for all purposes and have since I was nine years old. I doubt I am ever going to need bifocals, because I just can't read any size print at ANY distance, on a computer or not, without glasses.

Sometimes glasses are bifocals and sometimes they're just glasses. No big deal either way, I just thought it could be a mistake to just assume he wears bifocals because of his age. Seems to me like all the people I know who had to wear bifocals as they aged started out not having to wear ANY glasses.

85. no, actually I know quite a few people who have worn glasses most of
their lives who needed bifocals as they aged. Actually, the only people I know over the age of forty who have glasses and don't wear bifocals either have a separate pair of reading glasses or they simply shove their glasses up on their forehead and put the book up close to their face to read fine print.

89. Maybe that will happen to me too. Don't know.
But so far I am an exception to that rule, I guess. My glasses are my "everything glasses."

If I tried to read fine print without my glasses, it would be an exercise in futility. It would also be me squinting with only one eye because the other is miserably astigmatic.

71. thanks for the warning. I'll fast-forward through that bit
when the munchkin relinquishes control of the set. Right now, it's beginning of The Princess Bride. Again.

77. Aw, I love that movie.
In fact, I should go put it on. It's better than Citizen Joe talking about the FBI raid. They keep showing the same video or still of the Sears Tower, even though the story is in Miami. :eyes:

:hi:

81. she saw a scene or two about a month back while we were flipping
channels right before bedtime and was fascinated by it. We bought the book the next day and have been reading it to her, a few pages at a time, ever since. We've subsequently purchased the movie but she's not allowed to watch the movie beyond the point we've reached in the book. She really got excited when she realized Count Ruegen was the six-fingered man and is pestering me to know whether Inigo Montoya will meet him before the end of the book. It's pretty cute listening to a 5-year-old say, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

95. oh, she thinks R.O.U.S. is a funny abbreviation
but found them a bit scary the first time she saw them on TV. They don't seem to faze her now, though. I'm really looking forward to getting to the end of the story. :-)
