We know I'm safe, but my reputation has taken a beating. I've been accused of boiler room antics. (It wasn't me, it was my doppleganger):D

27. Hey! I resemble those antics, too.
IIRC, it was the storeroom, not the boiler room.
And if you can have a doppelganger, so can I. :P

Just don't double-post as your own DG - that will get you banned for sure.
(I know it's coming: :spank:)

63. Ahhh... usually I can figure those out.
Thanks.

Oh, and thanks on the prayers. I really like the two I have callbacks on: one would be fun as hell (it's a computer training center - I'm a nerd. I like that sort of thing) and the other is very stable - doing marketing at an insurance company.

The one I'm going on tomorrow is ironic. I used to work there. I was marketing assistant and they got rid of that position before my 90-day trail period. The director didn't get rid of it - the company did - and they made the marketing coordinator do both. Well, the coordinator's position is open, so I applied. I really liked working there and, even though they didn't have to since I was still on my probationary period, the director got me some severance pay. I already know the job, it's just a matter of convincing them that I know have the experience to do the coordinator's position.

tv is behind me. But I swear it looked like it was the TIE. Same colors, same stripe width. It was NOT the tie some mistake for the tie. And he had a very light shirt on with it, almost as though he wanted to be sure the TIE was noticed.

Edited on Tue May-03-05 08:02 PM by Greylyn58
The one thing I always notice when I see a drug commercial is all the side effects the advertised drug could cause. I always think "Why would I want to take this drug to cure one problem, but have it possibly cause 5 or 6 other problems"

I hate and loath all of these commericals... :grr:

102. Yes, I am against drug company commercials in principle,
but this one has animated people made out of plumbing. And since I really like plumbing, I find it humorous. Don't ask me why I like plumbing, I don't know. :P The drug advertised, btw, is one of those "don't wee in your pants" drugs, so I suppose if one had that problem, one would be not averse to trying it out, despite side effects. Is that problem really all that common? I mean, jeez, they advertise about three different drugs for it. Seems kinda rare to me. :7

116. Me too. The one I hate most is Premarin.
You know what they make that stuff out of, don't you? They get the estrogen from the urine of pregnant wild horses that they capture, artificially inseminate, drain off the urine (by hitching them to catheters all the time), then abort the fetus and start all over again. Nice.

Remember, ladies, any time you see a drug whose name starts with "Prema..." the "Prema" stands for PREGNANT MARE.

Should be enough of a thought to keep you off hormone therapy for life.

166. and it's actually a really crappy form of estrogen for women, anyway
let alone the truly lousy way it's made. The plant-based estrogens are much closer to the human forms they're replacing and therefore thought to have fewer undesired side effects and risks. Whenever they come out with Yet Another Study about women and estrogen, always check to see what type of estrogen was used. (This PSA brought to you by the sister of a woman who had a hysterectomy and has been there, done that with HRT.)

Which reminds me to ask--why when he had the discussion of the good-looking-kids study did we get treated to pictures of the damn Daily Show writer instead of childhoodd pictures of KO?

I mean, heck, he had his picture on the ID card earlier in the show and everything!

One of my favorite moments from tonight's show: when he implied what happens to kids not strapped in the shopping cart. "WhEEEEEEE!"

Also, liked the story about him taking advantage of well-waxed supermarket aisles to indulge in floor skating activity. You just gotta love a floor skater.

It's just Keith's way of saying :P to us (snarkalicious, you know!).

162. Didn't you hear? Bleever incinerated it in a Gull Bay episode:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=315&topic_id=2305&mesg_id=3540

Since the grey suit hasn't made an appearance lately, maybe there's something to "sympathetic magic" after all! In which case, maybe we should consider what we might do to likenesses of some of the worst of the neocons and their enablers in the media and elsewhere. Nothing violent, of course - more like a truth spell.

Yeah, that's the ticket: Hex 'em with a truth spell so they can't lie anymore.

Early work day tomorrow, then work Thurs night.
Next week will be even worse. Have to hang photos for the show, then be at the show Wen. night. Then have to take pics of the nurses getting pinned Friday night. Graduation Sunday. Thinking I won't be around much next week. Need to buy more video tapes. But after that off for the summer.
Everyone have a goodnight and a great day tomorrow.
Crossing fingers for the job hunt Clark.

125. Roo is pestering me to say Hi to all of you.
The li'l guy is doing so much better. He's running around the house on occasion, and is eating pretty well, too. Since I got home and came to the computer, he's been lounging on my arms, swatting things off the desk with his tail, and making his presence known.

He wants to say thanks to all of you for your good thoughts (and some day, he'll get rid of that nasty tooth).

138. Glad to hear Roo is doing better
and best wishes to all the various menageries of all the various KOEB'ers.

My menagerie is fine tonight, except I can never quite convince the one to stop jumping on the couch during the show and obscuring my view of the screen with her tail and ass. "Dammit get DOWN! I wanna see Keith, not your BUTT!"

Roo (the tiger) is her littermate; the white holstein-spotted one is Binky. She is the oldest (by two months), and Roo's soul-mate. :loveya:

And for others of us, it surprisingly has references to:

a) Constantine

b) Ohio State

Oh well!

153. Ok, re: the Runaway Bride
Am I the only one disturbed by the "the public want to see her truly remorseful, as in crying" comments? The public wouldn't have wanted ANYTHING, other than the woman's safe return, had the media not whipped this story into a frenzy in an effort to avoid reporting some very damaging news out of Britain about how Bush was going to invade Iraq no matter what & was distorting the intelligence to support it?? If anyone should pony up, it should be Faux & Nancy Grace & anyone else who said "the fiancee offed her" because they were hoping for weeks & weeks of media hype culminating in a dead body & a new "trial of the century."

I'd love Keith more if he'd bring that little factoid up when he's snarking the runaway bride story. :)

That's impressive, if it's the countdown one. Okay, even if it's just the other one, it's impressive.

161. Love the Keef caricatre in the OP! Here's NATURE PHOTO of the day
Hope you are all well - will read the thread later to see what's up. Just a drive-by, but I didn't want to go another night without a Nature Photo post; it's a tradition that I like, a calm-down, meditative moment at the end of the thread and the day.

This one ia from this site: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2996128
I really like the lines and the colors of the composition of the two running horses. I hope you enjoy it too.

I'm glad that thread DID get a nature photo. I agree, it's a good tradition to keep.
