Loved the Nancy "None of you are innocent!" Grace... and the fact that Keith had NAILED the "Runaway Bride" quote, unquote, "story" on Friday.

53. Well, here's where I disagree.
I think the MEDIA is just as guilty, for hyping the story. It was all over the country - and how could she just re-appear? Yeah, I know, a simple phone-call.

But who decided to make HER the #1 news story all weekend? Hmm? :puke:

87. I'm with you, Rev
While I do think they'll get her for calling 911 & falsely reporting she was kidnapped (& rightly so, IMO), this case got waaaay overblown because of the media. So what if she got cold feet? It does happen & there's no reason to make a federal case out of it. This sad couple has more issues than National Geographic, but it's not my business whether or not they work them out.

What I don't like is all the talk of prosecuting her simply for running off. Hey, I'm single & I decide, sometimes sua sponte, to take road trips. Most of the time, I do this without letting folks know where I'm going & for how long. Why should I? I'm an adult. My parents are dead. I don't have to worry about a curfew or getting my mommy's permission to spend the weekend in San Antonio or Austin. So, if my friends or family members freak, activate a DG Search Center & have the governor call out the National Guard to locate me while Nancy Grace tries to convict all the men in my life for various capital offenses, should I have to pay for that? I don't think so.

That's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

89. Exactly. The Media is/are (?) culpable.
They were looking at the next potential Scott Peterson, and waiting for the body to show up. They just didn't expect that she'd still be breathing.

Right now, they're the ones trying to cover their asses. :puke:

and yes, hopefully she will be fined at least a hefty sum to reimburse the agencies and town for the resources that was spent on this selfish woman. I can't help but wonder how many people who really needed some sort of assistance had it delayed while she was having her last fling.

This wedding -- honestly, there are SIX events in three days. It's completely mindboggling. It's like being a supporting castmember in a broadway show. Complete with a bagpipe processional down Amsterdam avenue. (!) It'll be fun -- but kind of over the top! :P

91. Crispini... I wanted to make it up there some time this year
but, with my job situation, I won't be able to.

I have a couple of friends up there - and even more in the Philly area who would be willing to make a trip.

I tend to go in the off-season when it's A.) Not as crowded with tourists and B.) Not as expensive.

Would you be interested if I got a group together to go? Maybe late winter/early Spring of next year?

134. Hi, Rev! On my msntv connection due to
my ability to screw up computers.

This sure sounds like a typical
Southern overblown production of a
wedding. If I remember correctly the
families are Baptist and they were
probably mortified that they were
living together hence the wedding. 14
bridesmaids and groomsmen? 600
wedding guests? Man, that would freak
anyone out! Wonder how much her wedding dress cost? Bet it had a 12 foot train.

165. I agree, Gogi.
In fact, when they interviewed the Associate Pastor (who was counseling them), as soon as the caption came up "Baptist Church" I thought, "well, there ya go. I'd run, too."

The guy gave me serious creep-bumps.

And I know all about the Southern Belle weddings. All too often, they become productions for the parents (usually the mothers). But who on earth needs 14 bridesmaids??? That's just nuts.

109. Was this up while everyone was reading the blog, or is it a new feature?
Keith's Web site now has a "Countdown to Countdown" clock that ticks off the number of hours, minutes and seconds until the next show.

So obvious, wonder why they didn't think of it before! (unless I didn't see it!)

Maybe they finally get how desperate our lives are that we actually measure them out in terms of "how many more hours until Keith?"

Of course, if they really wanted to get realistic for us they could add:

"Countdown to next News Quiz"
(for vacation periods) "Countdown to Keith's Return"
and, perhaps best of all, "Countdown to Bush's Departure from Office"

Ooh, did I say that? I'm bad.

I have a feeling you'll be able to catch it in future ads, as it comes right after the plug for his blog on "the #1 news Web site" (which MSNBC is plugging now). It's probably going to be a standard part of future "long versions" of Countdown ads, with only the front part changing by the day.

The look in his eyes before he throws is just priceless.

115. The commercial, you mean? No.
I actually caught it during Dan Abrams earlier tonight (sad to admit).

I had no choice. As soon as I got home from work today I had to begin the comedy of errors leading to me being able to get out and buy a new TV. I was totally at the mercy of others and THEIR schedules. This meant I probably wasn't going to be around to see if I could pick up the ad on Tweety's show, so I tuned in for Dan and eventually hit paydirt.

Sure enough, I end up having to leave for Best Buy at 7:30. What with having to get to the store, look over TVs, choose one and pay for it, get back home and then find a way to yank a huge TV box OUT of a car that some guy at the store somehow managed to get IN (who knows how?), then get it upstairs, well, by the time all that was over it was about 8:40 and Craig Crawford was holding forth on Pickles' Night at the Improv.

Thank God I had the foresight to set the VCR to tape! Argh!

Have some Gouda! Have some Swiss! Have some Cheddar!! But most of all...have some CHEESE! In the mighty and essential Cheese Dome!

And we're pouring another round of drinks to celebrate many things.

First, here's to the new clubhouse: :toast:

And here's to my new TV, long may it last after I plug it in for the first time tomorrow night. I'll be back to 20 inches of Keith--and 20 inches of Keith is about all I can handle! That's right, my electronic friend--all I ask is that YOU last a long time! (or at least longer than 3 1/2 years)!
:toast:

And let's celebrate a couple of birthdays while we're at it:

To Lesley Gore, who put teenage heartbreak (and snark) to music! It's her party and she'll cry if she wants to--but I hope she doesn't! :toast:

And to John, the best damn oboist Ithaca ever produced! :toast:

Cheers to everyone, including the late-night revelers headed by the Wheyward Rev! Salut!

I am going to get him a Friday appointment since the vet wanted him on prednisone for a week. Though I think I would just as soon they tried chemo. Prednisone doesn't get rid of anything just makes him handle it better. But he was feeling good enough to torment a cat today.

Edit to add pic.

If they stare at the cat long enough, using their mind control waves they can get the cat to give up its nice napping spot. No matter where the spot is.

You are going to have to not answer the phone. Big hugs. As for tearing up at the military part of the funeral, I always do. But then I barely remember my grandfather (who played taps at hundreds of Arlington funerals.) So I get a double whammy on that one. (My mom also use to let us feed sugar to the caisson horses even after the solider said they bite. We had been giving them sugar cubes or apples for months)

As far as Ashley's daughter all you can do is be there. Not only offer a should but keep on offering. And take care of yourself too.

Who was it said something about Mercury in retrograde? Need them to find out when whatever took its place is leaving.

the older version of Arlington stories is that I was in my mid twenties before I realized not everyone was allowed to drive in Arlington Cemetery, and very few allowed to drive and park by the Tomb of the Unknown solider. (My grandfather is buried about 75 feet from the amphitheater so we also drove to it.)

129. I just heard a story that I think Keith would like
I know it would make him mad as it has done me.

I'm listening to Mike Malloy and he was talking about a little 5 mos old baby in Houston, TX that is going to be removed from any medical care come Monday. She was diagnosised with leukemia and now has a skin infection. Long story, short. A committee at the hospital told the parents they are cutting off the child's chemo and other medical treatments.

Does this remind anyone of Sun Hudson? Same state. Anyway, I'm gonna send Keith the story. I think if he promotes this story, they might find some help for this baby and her family.

The more the better. (insert cussing here( is so wrong with letting at least the babies live as long as the parents want them? Even if they will still eventually die (as in Baby Sun's case) what is so wrong with letting the parents hold, cuddle, love and care for the baby as long as they can? Besides with babies and young children the outcome can surprise even doctors. Course TX is trying to break the record for most people killed against the wishes of their families these days.

164. The story is on a local station there
ABC 13 Houston. The story is about half way down on the page and once you click the link it brings up a story and picture.

Mike went on to complain about how the "Right to Lifers" crowded around Terri Schiavo in Florida that was obviously brain dead, yet not one of them has bothered to show their butts in Texas to help this baby and her family.

Man, I am just livid over this. It is disgusting.

I also think any and all of us aught to let Keith know about this story.
The baby's name is Knya Dismuke.

I think Keith is taking pity on me.
That, or it really IS the power of cheese. :)

Mom's doing pretty good. She's not nearly in as much pain as before, and she is relieved to be off her injections. Now they're both tired. I told Dad he should go ahead and drink caffeine (I said, "If you're tired all the time, then go for it. Your heart's good, and you could use a pick-me-up." He liked the idea of an afternoon Mountain Dew break again!)

Roo is better. He came running to see me after church Sunday. I haven't seen him run in several weeks. He's also snubbing the baby food, so I think he's getting better.

them talk for a bit. Though donating to the food pantry is a good idea. Used to have conniption fits when I would hear how a pallet of mushrooms was rejected and they were putting them in the dumpster. Yelled at my hubby to find a food pantry (Was going to Atlanta then). They would come get them. Place would oder too many and make up a reason to reject the extras. He got a couple places to think/call food pantries for produce after he saw how easy it was.
