13. you have to look up someone's profile

select "Options", then "User Profiles", then enter a user's name. Ah, I see you've made 4102 posts. Often, the hit-and-run freepers don't have enough finesse to make it to 100, much less 1000, without getting tombstoned. Perhaps that's why we don't get an explicit number shown in the posts after 1000.

on edit: So, once you've rolled over 1000, is there an advantage to hiding your profile vs. having minimal information in it, apart from concealing your exact post count and how long you've been at DU? I've never seen any point in hiding my profile because I didn't put jack in it in the first place...

14. Use the shortcut...

On the same line as the user name:
User Name
Donor Star
Number of posts (1-1000+)
envelope - to send a PM
Rolodex card - profile of user (includes total number of posts)
Green shadow - add to buddy list
Red shadow - put on ignore

16. You can look up someone faster.

If I want to send a PM to Sparky, I click on Options/Buddy List. His name, profile, and PM options are there... I don't have to run around the board looking for him, or wade thru the user profiles list that takes forever to load.

Some people use their "buddy list" for other purposes... not all entirely legal. I knew someone who used it as a shortlist of suspected trolls, or enemies list.
