of 1920's Virgin statuary there too in the garden and on the porch. I also love to collect the large silver ex-votos/milagros, they are hanging on my living room wall. I also love old Madre Dolorosa imagery. There are homes all over Santa Fe with the Virgin of the Guadeloupe painted on the side of the adobe, they are soooooooo beautiful.

Of course, most of the time it's just silly--I don't think some of these people really believe in the images they "claim" to see. And the guys who were selling images of Keith on eBay were just hysterical. Like the one who deliberately spilled bleach in a pattern on a pair of jeans and then said he "found Keith Olbermann in my girlfriend's pants." And the one who scraped a rudimetary image of a figure in glasses onto a piece of toast and claimed it was an image of Keith and "not the virgin that I had hoped for"--that was :rofl:

But when people start coming from all over the world to stare and cry at a wall just because the water-drip patterns on it supposedly resemble an image of Mary crying for the world...that's when it all starts to just get too weird for me.

And if someone's faith is enhanced, I think that's great. People are looking for some kind of spiritual meaning in this world - and let's face it, it's an ugly, mean world.

But what does bother me is how some people are willing to capitalize on their discovery. Honestly, can you sell an icon? And what does that say about your personal values, not to mention your soul?

Are the images real? I think it's the eye of the beholder.
But selling them on ebay is beyond tacky - it's repulsive.
