1. Early rant .....
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 07:33 PM by Botany
hi Berry :hi:

* has been President for 9/11, that ungodly mess called Iraq, & the drowning
of New Orleans (due in some part to taking money from levees and wetlands
and shifting it to his suck ass war)

*'s time before during and after Katrina

Golf ..... fly to Arizona ..... photo op and eat cake w/ McCain ......
Fundraiser ..... fly to San Diego ..... fundraiser ........ speech using
the US Navy as a prop where he posed w/ guitar, talked about WW II,
talked about the new "free" Iraq, pimped his war, and flew back to
ranch as New Orleans went underwater. Then a fly over of the death & stuff
on his way back to work

Bush as FDR after Pearl Harbor ..... "I will get on it."

:grr:

you "might" help me when I have a heart attack

34. Actually, for some people they make more sense than the
coverage they are currently enrolled in through their employers. For people with very minimal expenses they make sense and for some people with very large expenses they make sense because with the high deductible plans you have to be enrolled in, once you hit your out-of-pocket maximum everything is covered at 100%. Depends on the plan, but for some it really does make sense.

How does one buy "only what they need" in gasoline?
You're always, eventually, going to run out - so what you need, calculated over a lifetime - is several thousand barrels.

Bush is such a dimwit.

12. I can't believe this is happening
Where is our government? If this is what happens after a natural disaster, I'm afraid to see what would happen after another terrorist attack. Homeland Security obviously is not very well prepared.

I hate to even think that it's a racial thing, but it's so hard not to. People are people and no one in this country deserves to be left to starve and die like this. Bush should be impeached for negligence and jailed for murder. He has now become the greatest mass murderer in this country's history -- I'm sure the death toll will be far worse than 9/11 when this is all over. Not to mention the disruption and destroying of people's lives.

I am so livid I just have no words for it.

Anderson was rockin.

Now Keith starts his show off with that incredible footage. I've been in tears for about an hour now watching the horrors going on and Bush--the SOB--gives another useless speech and turns it into a photo op with his dad and Clinton.

This is just unbelievable. I'm just so sick.

82. I realized that after I posted.
But, it's still sad that ShrubCo. is ignoring all the people of color - everywhere: in this country, in Dafuar, in Iraq.

second great urban disaster he's covered and it probably brings back all the traumatic memories. My brother's death in 1996 made me really bawl everytime someone (JFK, Jr., Princess Diana) died. It was mourning for them and my brother combined.

76. I just left a message for the President.
You can call the White House comment line directly at 202 456 1111 and if you wait about 10 minutes you can talk to a real human.

I told her, "I want to know why it took so long to get help down there. I want to know why I am watching people suffer like this in New Orleans."

I was trying to be calm but I started to cry a little towards the end.

87. You're all reacting the way I did.
Keith was great tonight. Everyone he had on was great tonight.

The scenes and the stories are horrifying and unbelievable.

No, I didn't like that Remax ad either. It should have been canned some time ago.

And no, it didn't escape my notice that unless I missed something, every last living person over at the Lowe's store on the "I'm Okay" segment was white...and most of the frantic people at the convention center screaming and crying for help were black.

I thought "What is wrong with this picture? Plenty...It really is true, isn't it? This is all happening because our government has decided that poor people, especially poor black people, are expendable."

If you could afford to escape, good for you. If not, tough luck, Charlie. You can even do as you are told to do and there will be no help for you...none at all.

What I want to know is, what can we do? I feel so helpless at the thought of being able to do nothing but send some money somewhere. People are dying. Those people need to get out of there and they need to get out NOW.

85. Keith does know what matters.
There's both empathy and just enough restraint in him to keep things focused on what matters.

And frankly, I'm glad he commented on the latest hateful blathering from Rush Limbaugh, who is either going to have a road to Damascus conversion someday or be ridden out of the country on a rail. The Media Research Center will aim their darts at Keith, as usual.

Bunch of jerks. What is happening is obvious. Look at the color of the people who are able to report that they are safe and all right. Look at the color of the people, most of them, who cannot say the same.

The poor, the old, the very young are being left to die...the vast majority of them black. It is so blatantly obvious it is disgusting. Let's see Rush try to explain THIS away.

Oh, and one more thing about Keith: if I have to hear ONE MORE PERSON EVER complain about the size of his ego and how he always has to inject himself into a story, I am going to SCREAM.

All he is doing is sitting there at his desk letting the story tell itself and asking the questions that need asking. In the meantime, Rita Skeeter FINALLY comes back from Aruba to hit Houston, where she can talk to a bunch of white people and safely exploit their "emotional, heartbreaking" stories from a safe distance for the entertainment of others. And Joe Scarborough is going to make out like he is some hero who's going to help all those poor people. Talk about injecting yourself into a story. Sheesh.

Just got back myself.

The woman that wanted to know why aren't people getting in their cars and coming to help really had me wanting to get in my car and go. And I know there are others with family there that are having a harder time not just going.

98. I wondered how long it would be before people began to break.
This is what happens when you gut the infrastructure and social services. And we have to keep reminding people who's in charge of the White House AND Congress.

And sadly, many people don't care much about what's happening down there - they are only concerned about their gas prices, their wallets, and their own well-being.

99. Some die hards are changing
their minds. And a couple of us at work have found a great way to point out it is * fault. We use the word "feds" all the way through about the lack of really anything, get people agreeing with us and doing their own commenting on how the"feds" have made a bad situation worse. When the conversation is winding down we gently remind them that the repukes are in control and they are the "feds" we were talking about. Most people seem to be having a light bulb moment after that.

Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 10:55 PM by CC
no he isn't because he goes to WI and MN. (Brings back butter from Richland Center)
Edited to add: He also drives for a company so he isn't the one paying for fuel. Fuel for the trip out there has gone from 230 a fill up to 628 a fill (last week afraid to ask about this week. He fills up twice after leaving the shop with a full tank.)

Not sure if you are still here. The phone call was about my nephew and his girlfriend. She was pregnant with complications and lost the baby tonight. Poor kids. They are keeping her tonight and guess will let her come home tomorrow. We kinda of new this was coming for the last week but we all hope for a miracle.
After that my mom needed to rant about * and how she told us she did not want to live in a country with him in charge all along. Well she had more rants about * and ineptness too. But pretty much what we all are thinking too.

but more because of the girlfriend's family and finding out how they get around "abortions" at catholic hospitals. She feels the inducing labor and calling it a birth at this point in pregnancy is cruel to the kids.

Edited to add, Vets & Pets is a charity in Orlando that helps out vets with their needs (food, meds, housing etc) and also helps them take care of their pets with food, care etc. Some of these vets have no one but their pets so they decided they had to help with both. They did step up beyond vets during the hurricanes last year and helped everyone they could. They went into poorer neighborhood, found people that needed help and brought help to them instead of waiting for people to come to them.

the best thing I could do is try to change their minds with their own BS. I bite my tongue a lot and I have to really figure out how to say it so they don't realize what I am doing. But it does seem to work better than telling them the truth then listening to the Fox BS until I tell them they are stupid idiots that deserve what they get. Sometimes the really dense ones get the stupid idiot rants.
