KOEB 7/19/05 (so excited I'm postin' it early...)
"Hi, this is Keith. And have I got a special Countdown for you tonight! Yes, that's right--while everyone else is talking about you-know-who and his nominee for the you-know-what, I've learned about a LEGAL PRECEDENT that could DO KARL ROVE IN! See, here's the scoop...

"Wait a minute...what the hell is THIS????"

"Hi there, Keith. Ah believe this is MAH airtime tonight, not yours."

"But, uh, Mr....ah, Bush...you're not supposed to be on until NINE o'clock. This is EIGHT o'clock. I still get to do my show first."

"Oh, why, haven't you heard, Keith? Ah'm takin' over as the host of Countdown! Just wait'll you see what mah top five stories are gonna be! Number five, all about my new Supreme Court nominee--you're just gonna love Mr. Roberts, Ah tell you! Number four, all about Karl Rove--how wonderful he is, and how Ah just couldn't do without him! Number three--those eevul people in the White House press corps, and how they are being SO unfair to our wonderful Scotty who is so upfront and honest and patient with them! Especially that nasty Mr. Gregory! Number two--mah presidential library. Ah'm already makin' plans, and I'll let all of YOU see what they are! And finally, number one--my top story--mah wonderful wife, Laura. It's gonna be a great show. You won't wanna miss it!"

"Uh, Mr. Bush...I don't think this is allowed...you're going to have to talk to my producers...my network said you could have airtime at 9, but taking over MY SHOW is just--"

"But you're gonna love it, Keith! Just think of all the ballgames you can go to with me in the chair! But you really do need to record it to watch later or catch the re-air, 'cause it's gonna be great! And the ending is the best of all! You know that document, the U.S. Constitution? You know, the one with the stuff in there about how Americans have freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom from unwanted search and seizure, the right to personal property, the right to vote--all that?"

"Hmph...I am somewhat familiar with that document, yes."

"Well...at the end of each Countdown from now on, I'm gonna wad that Constitution up in a big ball and PITCH IT IN THE TRASH! It's gonna be great!"

"...Uh, boy..."

(DISCLAIMER: Fortunately, this was a nightmare and only a nightmare. Your regularly scheduled Countdown with Keith should take place at 8 ET tonight as usual. Remember. This was ONLY a bad dream. ONLY a bad dream...)

Anyway, I'm off to a HOA meeting -- I'll catch ya'll on the rerun. I'm SO looking forward to Karl Rove Puppet Theatre!

96. Yes, had to turn to weather on the 8s
so i even missed the no-paper-toss end to the show.

Emily is coming ashore tonight....we got smacked with one of the (usually minor) outer bands this afternoon as i left work...damn, if that was an "outer band" hitting someplace 180 miles inland, i'm glad i'm not on the coast!! our corpus office got hit by lightning & the power went out.

anyway, the wind here was blowing like it was no one's business, the sky got DARK quickly, it rained hard for about 5-10 minutes, then all was clear. it's been calm ever since, but when i checked out weather.com, i noticed we're under a flood watch. should get interesting about midnight. yay.

52. Any thoughts on what the theme music will be?
I'm thinking the theme from "Rawhide".

57. It was so funny!
And perfect music, too.

I heard Kkkarl's wife is a Democrat. She's an interior designer. One of the co-authors of "Bush's Brain" was on our morning progressive talk show yesterday and he told the host.

51. Drier is such a picture perfect Repug mouthpiece.
He's always struck me as a Suck-Up right out of Central Casting. During the election he was the recipient of much of my ire. Bleccch.

Who will be squiring Roberts' nomination 'round town.

I don't know if Drier was an actor -- before now I mean.

He's born to play the "Steve Lawrence" role. :)

66. I wish Fred had been the nominee.
He's a paelo-conservative and a hell of a nice guy.

He voted against impeachment and worked on prosecuting Watergate. If it has to be a Republican, I'd rather it be Fred Thompson than almost anyone else Shrubbie could name.

Wearing a suit that makes him look like a gangster, and coming up with pathetic apologia for the administration that will hold about as much water as a sieve.

After all, having TWO Major League teams in a city is the ONLY way to be assured it is a civilized place...besides, double your pleasure, double your fun.

Then again, we're talking the Yankees here...that would be double your suffering...

100. Ya wanna talk baseball suffering?
I'm a Mariners fan! At least the Yankees have won the world series so many times, and the Mets were contenders. All we have out here is a great ballpark and players who, invariably, will have "six degrees of George Steinbrenner" before their careers are out.

The only time I get emotionally attached to are the minor league Everett Aqua Sox. At least they have a barber shop on Third Base, and a pig that serves as a ballboy.

86. "We don't bother to try to comprehend Mo Rocca"
"he is just there to make us laugh."

At least that's how I see it.

I was hoping Keith would get into how flip-flops would look on his size-14 feet. But I guess he figured that between the repeated references to Judge Roberts being born on January 27 and the gratuitous reference to the Hastings-on-Hudson, New York Little League, he'd been self-referential enough for one night.

88. I think you may be right.
Listening to my tape...he says "That's Countdown...We'll see you again at 9 Pacific, midnight Eastern, for the reaction to the president's Supreme Court nominee..."

To me, that says that the midnight show will NOT be a re-air but will be a LIVE show--possibly all about Roberts reactions.

Ah, a double-dose of Keef tonight!!!!!!

:loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

Now, I just want to say one thing: could Tucker Carlson possibly be wearing an uglier suit combination? That thing is giving me nightmares.

Also, Dan Abrams sure can't complain of not getting enough airtime tonight. Subbing for Tweety, appearing on Tucker's show...he's on almost as much as David Gregory!

87. Hi KOEB!
I can't post during the show (because it is too hot to run up and down three flights of stairs between commercials) so I'm going to test my memory and post apres le show.

1. Keith looks smashing as usual, he does have too many striped ties however, a little more variety handsome.

2. I do not like Dana Milbank. He is smug, condescending, and has a silly comb-over. I can picture him having the same face in elementary school, sometimes that's a good thing, but in his case ahhh, not so good. Still haven't forgiven him for his totally unprofessional and demeaning smearing of John Conyers important hearings on the DSM.

3. New Supreme, Federalist Society. Without knowing that much about him yet, I'll just go out on a limb and say perhaps we don't need another Alexander Hamilton around the highest court in the land. Can we challenge him to a duel? Just from the pictures, Roberts has Republican hair, never a good sign. I'm sure if blivet picked him he will suck for America. That just goes without saying. Scary stuff.

4. I knew when KO's guest from last night (the one with the great Southern drawl who has a book coming out 'Kill the Messenger(?), mentioned bringing back puppet theater, specifically Karl Rove puppet theater that it wouldn't be long before we had Turdblossom Puppet Theater to delight the kiddies. Notice KO did his best Chicago accent when doing Patrick Fitzgerald. DARBY Rove, why do all wasps have such insipid names?

5. That Congressman Dryer was wearing gangster pinstripes (how appropriate) and lying whenever his lips were moving. Quelle surprise!
Leon Pannetta is cool, but inka dinka doo, what a Jimmy Durante schnozz on that guy. Loved what he said about * being concerned about the appearance of impropriety at the WH, never mind actual impropriety, just fix the appearance of impropriety.

6. Flip Flops go to Washington. Perfect, no accident this pic is making the rounds after latest giant flippedy-floppidy remarks about criminals still working in the WH.

7. Yeah Mo Rocca was on. Talking about Supremes and shoes. He didn't seem quite as deliciously snarky tonight but I still love the guy when he's on.

8. Loved the Hastings on Hudson little league reference

Can't remember anything else

9. oh yeah. Hey Jude, don't make it worse. Cheat on me with the nanny and then announce it in public. What an ass. You give back that 32K ring girlfriend, some family of four could live off that dayam bling-bling for a year.

4.

How do you like the Dana Milbank smiley? LOL!

Yes, we probably have Craig Crawford to thank for Karl Rove Puppet Theatre, but I'd like to think Keith also pays attention to the clamoring of the fans...

Jude Law just makes me go...ick. I'd be burnt too, if I were Sienna!

otherwise, why plug it by saying "We'll be back" and saying that they will be covering reactions to the nomination?

Just for the record, there is already a DU thread containing video of Karl Rove Puppet Theatre!

I loved the Rove Puppet Theater.
Did I hear Congressman Drier correctly? I thought he said something like this administration has reduced the federal budget by 94 BILLION dollars. If so, WTF?????
It's wonderful to have Keith back. :)
