IN EARLY 2004, a group of investors set out to launch a liberal radio network that would challenge the dominance of America's airwaves by conservative talk radio. The creative, financial and logistical challenges were immense, but on March 31, Air America Radio became a reality. LEFT OF THE DIAL chronicles the trials and tribulations involved in starting up -- and sustaining -- a nationwide radio network during a highly charged election year.

Joining the Air America team in New York just 12 days prior to the launch, filmmakers Patrick Farrelly and Kate O'Callaghan follow an eclectic group of people through the launch period and beyond, as they create a slate of shows while facing mismanagement and financial chaos that bring the fledgling network to the brink of collapse. I'm currently reading "ESPN: The Uncensored History," which is a crackin' good story about another network that "everyone" said would never happen much less succeed.

This docu promises to be as exiting as the ESPN story.

I'm still wiped from Friday night, or maybe it's just cumulative. Cheese isn't the only one who gets over-scheduled during Lent.

A Thursday blow-out. Hokay, on Friday morning, I'll just chew the coffee beans... or maybe snort the grounds? We gonna have a contest to see who can get in the most trouble the fastest? Or should we make it more difficult and see who can stay out of trouble the longest? Who gets to be the judge, and what's the prize?

Well, I don't know...

We could inaugurate a new COUNTDOWN ANNIVERSARY tradition -- like throwing the pages of the Newsletter in the air with Keith after the Top 3 Newsmakers; and lobbing one scrunched-up page at the screen at show's end.* :-)
(This would be a lot less dramatic -- and draw a lot less police attention -- than going to the window and shouting, "Happy anniversary, Countdown!")

*Or maybe I went to see "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" a few too many times - ?

boycotting local cable premium channel hikes... just cancelled HBO and am already in withdrawl over future ep's of Soprano's and Six Feet Under !

Am hoping AAR will sell the DVD as a fundraiser!
