2. Usually strep doesn't last that long, so I think he'll be back.
Hoping he doesn't have a penicillin allergy. The man has so many other physical ailments.

People in GD are implying that only those with tonsils get strep, but not so. Keith had his tonsils out at age 6--I remember him saying that once either on Countdown or Dan Patrick's radio show. I think it was on Countdown. Google tells us strep is an infection of the pharynx, not the tonsils per se, although Lord knows many parents do find their kids get less strep if the tonsils come out. Guess it's not a 100% prevention plan, though. Poor Keith!

3. Hi BerryBush!
Oh good, I was hoping we would see him back sooner than later. Poor guy :-( I've heard that strep throat can be very painful. I've never had it, have you? :hi:

7. Goodness gracious, of course I have.
I'm surprised to hear of anyone who made it to adulthood and didn't. It's an awful kind of sore throat, and only antibiotics will get rid of it. Luckily I've never been overexposed to antibiotics (only took them for bacterial infections) and the result is that if I get something like strep throat, all I have to do is start slamming the penicillin (once I get a prescription for it) and it dies right off from the second I start taking it.

Hope Keith doesn't have too tough a time of it, but he's already been down three days; that's too bad.

4. Tonsils and strep....
I finally had my tonsils out at 12. Seems not only did I get strep a lot but was found to be a carrier. It stayed in my tonsils all the time and I got strep when my immune system was weakened. 12 is too old to be getting tonsils out. I didn't get strep for year then got it for the first time since about 5 years ago. Said something to my doctor about not having it since I got my tonsils out. He looked at me funny and said but you have tonsils. Damn things grew back, just smaller and no longer carry the strep germs all the time.

So yes you can get strep without tonsils but your tonsils can also grow back after having them taken out. Just hope Keith got good meds and follows all directions, especially the keep taking all of the RX even though you feel better.

9. Oh, dear!
Poor guy! And it would happen the week of the last debate too! Well, he'll be okay. All he needs is rest. Besides, with the election coverage coming up he's gonna need it.

Get well soon Keith!!
