o/t - Watching Robert Blake as the young Paul in "Humoresque"...
... holding that violin with such joy in his dark shining eyes, tears welled up in mine for the path his life might have taken, had Blake had decent people for parents.

Blake's always been someone who thought about things, about responsibility and what's the right thing to do. His early life was the stuff of Dickens, and it has both energized and crippled him as he's tried to make his way in the world.

How I wish he'd been able to find a good woman to nurture him, a good therapist to heal him, and an enlightened studio management to appreciate the special talent they had in him. He's always deserved a lot better from life than he's gotten.

Just some thoughts about a performer I've always liked, and whose career I've followed since the early '60s.
