Kathleen Peterson (wife of Michael Peterson) killed-by-owl theory
http://www.metronc.com/article/?id=19

The owl theory, that offers an alternative explanation for the death of Kathleen Peterson on December 9, 2001 at her home in Durham's Forest Hills neighborhood, has received scant attention in the media in the aftermath of the conviction of Kathleen's husband Michael for her murder, and his ongoing appeal now wending its way through the judicial system.

The North Carolina General Assembly is considering a bill to ban public access to autopsy photographs. If the owl theory is to be placed in the public domain, now is the time.

1. Why would they come up with the idea of an owl attack?
Have owls attacked other people in that neighborhood?

I don't think owl attacks are all that common.

FWIW, I was attacked by an owl in my backyard, many years ago. When we moved into this house, it had been empty for two years. We have owls that nest here. I have watched them teach their young to fly. The first year we were here, the mother owl flew around my head in a threatening manner, and finally flew straight into my head. She did not claw me or try to harm me in any other way. I think she got used to my husband and me, and never attacked again.

Since that time, the owls have moved further to the back of our property. We have barn swallows, too, which are rare these days. They have also moved further back on the property. They nest in a building we seldom use.

Having been attacked by a mother owl who was trying to defend her young, I am skeptical of this story. I don't think an owl, if it did attack, would be quite that persistent.

4. On one of the crime TV shows
that featured the Peterson case, a neighbor of the Petersons explained his owl theory. I thought at first he was pulling the interviewer's leg, but he was series!1!1

An owl caused Kathleen's death. Right. :eyes:
