Patsy Ramsey dead
http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/06/24/ramsey.death/

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Patsy Ramsey, mother of slain 6-year-old JonBenet, died Saturday of ovarian cancer, her lawyer told CNN. She was 49.

She died about 3:30 a.m. at her father's house with her husband by her side, lawyer Lin Wood said. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1993 but was cancer-free for nine years until a relapse three years ago.

1. Sad news
It's not good to hear of anyone dying.

I am in the opinion that she knew a lot more than we will ever know now. I think the son did it and they didn't want to lose both of their children so they covered it up.

2. I was saddened to hear
that Patsy Ramsey lost her battle with cancer.

I too believe JonBenet's brother Burke was responsible for JonBenet's death, though it appears that the majority of Internet crime forum posters still believe Patsy killed her.

If it was Burke, maybe someday he'll have the courage to step forward and clear his mother's name, though it would probably not be something she'd have wanted him to do.

3. Very sad news
I am also in the "Burke did it" camp. I wonder if we'll ever find out the real story here?

4. Sometimes I think
the truth will eventually come out, but it's been 9 1/2 years since she died, and no one's cracked yet, so I'm beginning to doubt it'll happen.

Burke was 2 weeks shy of his 10th birthday when JonBenet died on Christmas, 1996. That means Burke is now 19+ years old. Maybe someday when he's older and living on his own, without his family around pressuring him to keep quiet (especially with Patsy gone now), he'll speak up. Even if he didn't kill JonBenet, he probably knows more about what happened that night than many people realize.

5. This Ramsey murder is one of the most bizarre I have ever read about.

I've never formulated an actual opinion about who the murderer was, but I'm not inclined to think it was Patsy Ramsey. Some very strange things have happened to that family since the death of their daughter, as you can imagine. It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

6. I just discovered that I have degrees of separation from her...
Edited on Sun Jul-02-06 10:57 PM by mitchum
one of my wife's coworkers is a Ramsey family friend and went to the funeral. I have to ask her if it was a circus.

Maybe not a surprise, but I keep up with my degrees of separation from infamous criminals:

Another friend of my wife's has an uncle who was murdered by Velma Barfield

My best friend knows Pamela Des Barre who knew Bobby Beausoleil who knew Charles Manson

A friend in college went to jr high with Lisa Levy who was murdered by Ted Bundy

A mentor/professor was an undergraduate friend of Ira Einhorn (I didn't know about this until I was reading an Einhorn book a couple of years ago and came across some quotes from Carolyn)

Paul Stombaugh whose testimony pretty much hung Jeffrey McDonald was the father of one of my teenage buddies

Forgot one: A producer I worked with gave John Paul Knowles directions as a teenager when Knowles was on his spree in the 70s (if I recall, he gets namechecked in the Sandy Fawkes book)

Maybe we should start a whole degrees of separation thread

7. I think a whole degree of separation thread would be a blast.
I only have a couple but I could play too.
